Has anyone experienced coming off aizathiaprine and had bad joint pain? Had lupus 13 years and been on them meds for a year?

My white cells are now too low so they have taken me off them. My joints are so painful and really struggling!

Sorry to read about your joint pain after having to come off Azathioprine . I had to stop it after taking it for 2 years as like you it affected my blood count. I too have joint / muscle pain as flaring at the moment, I take steroids too which help with this. Has your Consultant put you on an alternative treatment?. If not and he's waiting to see how you are it would be worth you trying to see him sooner via your GP or a cancellation. Good LuckX

I'm trying to get an appointment with my Rheumy and it is proving difficult!. Presumably you haven't been successful?. Don't we have to battle and let's face it don't always feel up to doing it!.X

My daughter has had very bad muscle and joint pain she's been green juicing and only eating organic no diary for 6onths and it has reduced by 85% there is lots of research and people who have done this with very good results!!

Thanks. That's interesting as I asked my consultant about juicing and he said no to do any food related changes other than reduce calorie intake the normal way, as there's no way of knowing how it will affect the lupus!!

The same happened to me on aza so I was swapped to 6-mercaptopurine and that is working well. Might be worth asking about it perhaps?
