Hi Alan55, when you go to rhumatology or the eye clinic, ask about Sjrogrens. A lot of people with Lupus have other autoimmune conditions, and this is the one that will mainly affect your eyes. I am pleased to hear that you at last being taken seriously. X
I am so glad for you! Maybe now you will get some real help.
Thank u so much for your replies been to eye hospital and have been given eye drops and gel for very dry eyes not sure if this adds up with autoimmune disease or not time will tell

Hi alan55, I have sjorgrens and vasculitis that affect my eyes, although I always say, it's secondary conditions to lupus. I had the dry eye schirmer test in 2005, which was positive although I don't get gritty eyes. I do get horrendous pain in my eyes, like they have been poked front to back. This is caused by the vasculitis. So my point is , we develop other secondary conditions, but mostly would not have them if we didn't have lupus. Of course that is only my opinion. By the way, the gel I'm guessing, is the one you put in before bed??? When I first used it,( don't no more), I put it in half hour before bedtime. I couldn't see a bloody thing !!!! Hahaha I just stick to the liquifilm now.
Thanks6161 will wait until I go to bed before I use it then alan
Hi Alan55
I have lupus and sjorgens. I have constant dry gritty eyes and use eye drops and gel everyday. I was diagnosed last year and have had routine yearly eye tests and never needed glasses until this year. The optician did think that that the deterioration even though it was small was related to the lupus and sjorgens. Hope that helps. Good luck
Esky x
Thanks for that esky weird things going on in my body at the moment just a case of putting the puzzle together keep well
Alan
