Yes Maximillian, I get this at least once a month, but I also get extreme tiredness where I fall asleep. But when I wake up, I have a mad craving for sugar. And once I eat some I feel much better. I have not tried having sugar when I get the shakes. Perhaps I will try. Over the years Drs have questioned diabetes without me making any suggestions. Something in my investigations makes them test me, and it is always negative.

Me too ! Always feel unwell when I need food. I don't need to eat much to feel better. Normally a cup of tea & a biscuit does the trick. It's so strange cos my sugar levels are ok. I was wondering if it was the steroids or other medication I'm on .

What kind of diabetes test did you have , if you are on steroids they can play havoc with your blood sugar , if it was just a finger prick test at your gps then request an hba1c blood test it gives a more comprehensive view of your blood sugar over the past few months. sorry if I'm wasting your time.

You all need to go and get a cortisol test.... I suffered with these symptoms for years and eventually collapsed last year. It turned out that I had had an adrenal crash and now I am on steroids daily.... And something else I have discovered us that cortisol levels affect our inflammation markers.

Hi maximilian,

I've also been getting that for about a year now and it happens most days. My hands really shake and my whole body feels like its trembling. I've been putting it down to the tramadol or prednisolone but who knows.

Maximilian, you should get yourself a blood sugar tester. Eating sugary snacks is a sure fire way of gaining weight and developing diabetes later on. I know the feeling, especially when on Prednisone which pushes your blood sugar up so then there is a bigger fall (which feels awful) when your sugary snack quickly wears off so you eat more. Always eat a protein with carb, or a healthier carb, and it will last longer than just a sweet. After a few trips to Emerg because of low blood sugar, when I get the shakes I test. Usually it is just fine, but if sugar is low (usually late afternoon) then I have a pice of fruit and cheese, it is usually enough to get me to my next meal. Prednisone will put you on the roller coaster ride though.

Hi I also suffer with the shakes and crave sweet things...sugar levels are ok but interesting that my GP mentioned being constant pain could be the reason for the shakes and tremors.

Pain consultant has suggested acupuncture, which starts in April, so I'll see what happens.

I get this too! I thought I was the only one. For me i get trembly and it feels like my muscles are weak or tired (they don't always ache) and has nothing to do with sugar cravings. My GP thought maybe it was from muscle inflammation from the lupus but never got a definite answer. Have had my thyroid tested as well as sugar levels.

Yes I get this often and of course none of my doctors know why, check my sugar and its fine. I also get the shakes very badly after a shower and can no longer take a warm shower. Does anyone else experience this when they take a shower? last for atleast two hours after shower.
