Obtain an Occupational Therapy Report and appeal or apply again if you think the decision unfair (which it so often is with SLE) - either via NHS if your consultant will refer you or commission one privately. DWP find it extremely difficult to argue with a thorough assessment of your capabilities and problems.

I echo tigerlily's comments, my supporting letters helped me to get awarded the correct benefits I was entitled to. I wish you success with your appeal or reapplication.

It took me three goes, and at the first appeal (which I lost) the DWP person came out after me and told me how sorry she was, and how bitterly unfair she thought it was that I'd been refused. Marshall as much documentation as you can and don't give up. Jo

Please don't give up keep fighting and get as much medical evidence and letters supporting your application it goes a long way i sent all mine off and they corrected all my benefit. was only turned down once but appealed and i have not had a problem since , was given it indefinitely, But will still have to go through it all again as its now PIP.But did get a letter saying it would not be looked at until at least 2015 ,

Good luck

I agree with all the other replies. Its almost standard for them to turn you down on you first application as they test whether you sill bother to apply again...do so but not before you collect a letter/report from all the professionals who have or are treating you. It is clear from all I have read that your success depends greatly on the quality of the information you provide. Good luck gather up your courage and don't let them grind you down as its what their aim is. To make you give up at the first hurdle.

I too sent in with my original application all my medical reports, gp reports, blood results, information from the web, x ray results but still to no avail - well after much thought over the weekend I am going to send in a written complaint, no one deserves to be looked down upon and I can't sit back and let that happen to another person who could possibly come out of that meeting and end it all .......................... it's not fair to humiliate anyone ..............................

You have all scared me to death! I have just sent in my application for DLA and am holding out no hope now :( I had help from the CAB and the helper said she had a good track record of success. One tip was to request an EMIS report from the GP as it documents all your hospital appts and is independant proof of medical attendances

Please dont be afraid, I appreciate that you would feel put off but it appears that not everyone has to appeal, also another member suggested to contact Paul who offers excellent info.

Good luck, x
