Thanks

If you have shingles with lupus you should have anti-viral medicine as farmerfester says.

Coconut oil with a few drops of Lavander oil mixed in is great for taking away the itch of shingles.

I had to get off my Steroids until they had gone as I was covered in them and they said the steroids were making it worse. I was really ill for nearly a month and the doctor just gave me a sort of paint to put on the worse places, anti viral meds. and strong pain killers. All I could bear on was a cotton sheet. Hope you are soon better, it is just so painful.xxx

Hi there Greeneyes 09, I suffer from Lupus and caught shingles after a kidney transplant. Get to a doctor right away for antivirals for your shingles - if you leave it too long then they will not be effective. I've been left with Post Herpetic Neuralgia following my singles (chronic nerve pain) and its awful so please get seen as soon as possible. Do let us know how you get on.

Hi I have had SLE for almost twenty years and had two bouts of shingles in that time, both times I was under a lot of pressure and not at my best. I too take methotrexate but was not taken off them when I took the antivirals I just took extra cautions. I did however suffer so much with the neuropathic pain as the shingles this last bout was internal that I was hospitalised for a few weeks I sincerely hope that you don't suffer in this way,

good luck
