Have any of you tried taking supplements like Omega, COQ10, Vitamin C and D as I was told by an Integrated Medicine Doctor it helps.
I take vitamin D but only because the rheumatologist at the hospital tested my vit D levels and the result came back low. I've never taken supplements before as my gp advised me years ago only to take them if they're prescribed. I was getting shorter of breath than usual, muscle aches to the point of not being able to hold my arms up to comb my hair and generally feeling unwell...since the supplement I've been a lot better...I'd only take them if prescribed..
Hi there, I also take vitamin D, vitamin B12 injections every 3 months, the last couple of years I'v changed from omega 3 to Seal Oil capsuals, it took around 4 weeks before I noticed a change but do reccomend the seal oil my joints are much better especially in the morning :o) B12 is the only one prescribed and I have to do bloods every 3 months to see my vit. level. I believe we are all different of course but there is no harm in taking safe vitamin supliments. Good luck.
I also have prescribed Vitamin D3 and calcium, I cannot say I can see any difference but I hope thanks to that my osteopenia has not progressed to osteoporosis yet. I also take magnesium (recommended by a homeopath and kinesiologist, as it helps absorb calcium in bones better). Apart from that I take Wild Alaskan Salmon fish oil and Omega 7 (both self medicated). The only one I noticed making a difference is Omega 7 - my eyes feel much better, not so gritty, my skin is not so dry anymore, and I only take half of recommended dose. That is a really great supplement!

I take all of the supplements you mention. My experience of using them has been very positive but I have found that I need to take them in doses exceeding the RDA (I should point out that I only take water-soluble vitamins, not fat-soluble). So, I have found 1g of vitamin C in the morning plus another at lunch to be very helpful indeed and ensure I mostly don't catch viruses that are doing the rounds (can be purchased in neutral form as Magnesium Ascorbate; I use Nutricentre). I also take 3000 iu of vitamin D each day and this also seems to help me ward off winter nasties. CoQ10 I have found to be excellent - I suffered badly with cardiac arrhythmias and this has helped enormously - but to gain benefit I had to take 400mg/day initially and am now on a maintenance dose of 200mg/day. I also take good quality fish oil and this has substantially helped brain fog - although it took 6 weeks for any change to be noticed and I believe some people don't respond for 3 months.
All these things are not cheap, CoQ10 particularly; I buy via Dr Sarah Myhill (you'll find her via a Google search) who operates a shop not only for her patients but anyone else wanting to buy in the UK, and who tries to keep her prices as close to trade or low as possible.

Hello Mrs Mouse SJ, I was thinking about having more vitamin C too, does not 2000g per day give you any problems? I take 1000g but only when I catch a viral infection, which is very frequently because I work in a school. So am wondering if taking more vit. C would help here. I also read that good fish oil can raise the mood in depression.

I've not found any problems taking 2g, that is 2000mg, a day. And if I ever develop a cold, virus, I take more (up to 6g/day for a couple of days) - bowel tolerance, or not!, can be a key indicator. Of course, I must acknowledge that this runs contrary to that which you are likely to find published on most medical websites, which generally advise sticking to the RDA, and the advice I would imagine you would get from many GPs. However in practice I have come across quite a few conventional medics who, when I have asked, have said that they regularly exceed the RDA and feel there is good evidence to do so safely - based primarily, it would seem on the work done by Linus Pauling (I hope I have spelt his name correctly).
As for fish oils and their various benefits, you may be interested in the more recent research undertaken by Professor Puri of Hammersmith Hospital. Certainly when my husband developed depression and could not tolerate certain antidepressants, he refused to take any more, and I put him on high dose fish oil. It really helped.

I take all the antioxidants... vit A only five days, and 7 days a week C and E...B complex if my stomach bugs me and some yogurt....D with calcium and magnesium combination works better...and omega 3 6 9 oils combo, I think its called...there is a thing on the internet called medicine checker..or med checker...you punch in your medicine names..and anything else you take like vitamins..or herbs.....it will tell you if its a bad combination to be taking....
I am prescribed iron, calcium, B12 and D. Make me feel slightly better but am still ill.

I take Omega 3 in large amounts on prescription for high triglycerides. The side effect of this is that it really helps my joints and tendons.
So I would say this is a good thing. The stuff I have is weapons grade, as in its very pure and not like the over the counter stuff.
Co enzyme Q10 is recommended for people on statins who get cramps. Statins can up your CK levels, and this can cause heart and muscle damage at high levels. so have that checked. But remember that Q10 is also known as alpha quinone, so it if you are on hyddroxychloroquine you might want to check for a reaction between these two.
