Can I still have my flu jab I have sle
All the more reason I think! I had mine two weeks ago and i have lupus, and antiphospholipid syndrome and lung problems always ask your G.p first though.
If you are on any immune suppressent drugs definitely. It is not a live vaccine so no harm. I felt a bit groggy for a couple of days after mine but much better that than flu. Your GP surgery will probably offer it to you automatically. Mine does. I get a letter from them x
Yes. Definitely. If you have an autoimmune condition you really ought to have the jab. I have one very year and have no side effects. Getting flu would be a real problem with SLE. My surgery has me on the automatic list and if you look at the bright yellow posters advertising the jab this year you will see that immune problems qualify you.
I have SLE and had my flu jab done yesterday so yes you can I fact the doctor recommends it
My doctor said I wouldn't be entitled as it is only for people with heart problems, bronchitis and asthma. That was before my diagnosis of MCTD/Sjogrens so I might ask again. Otherwise will get Boots to do it for a fee!
You can also ask for the pneumonia vaccine as well
It's amazing how different surgeries work to different rules! I was diagnosed with both RA and SLE 3 years ago and have had the flu job each year. Had the pneumonia vaccine a year ago too. However we moved in July and my new surgery said I don't qualify for a free flu jab! I'm on steroids and MTX amongst a few other drugs and even looking on the NHS website it says you qualify if you are on any chemo or steroids! Have queried it twice with the surgery now and they are adamant I can't get it through them!
Thanks all so much for the replays x I have had the flu jab for the past five years but I was a bit wearie since being diagnosed about having it this year thanks all x x
