Hi has anyone with lupus felt really ill or fainted when exposed to fluorescent lights. This happened to me a few days ago and was alarming.

Interesting you should ask this cos I quite often feel dizzy, weak and vision a bit blurred when I'm in big supermarkets! Hmmm?

Hi Moondance, yes I suffer badly, usually get a migraine/dizziness and then inflammation the next day :( I was diagnosed with Photosensitivity, so energy lights, fluorescent lighting, sun etc causes flares ... x

Thanks for all the replies I shall have a word with my doc at the lupus clinic. Have such bad migraines - this is prob the cause. The fainting was really scary though and I felt ill all the next day

hi, I work in a supermarket and by the end of my shift I have a headache and blood shot eyes and dizziness. never fainted though thank goodness as I know from experience its frightening. im saving for light reactive glasses to wear at work but that's taking ages as money so tight x

It's happened to me a few times but they weren't fluorescent lights they were just very bright lights. On one occasion it was halogen lights. I passed out for a few seconds and my husband caught me. It hasn't bothered me for a while though.

Thanks for all the replies it helps to know I'm not on my own. I'm going to have to try and avoid fluorescent lights in future - it's hard though they are all over the place

Hi Moondance, you can buy incandescent bulbs on ebay, they are fine to use. I had to go to the DWP centre and they sat me under 3 energy bulb lights which inflamed my face and burnt my ear. I had to go in yesterday but phoned my Advisor and told her about my condition. When I arrived the lighting in the centre was reduced lol and no light in her office. Glad I dont have to go there anymore at the moment. Even driving when the sun is out has caused all my face to inflame :( makes me really ill. Going to look into getting Dermaguard for my car windows and home xxx
