hi iv got my first appointment at the haematol clinic monday whot should i expect? just getting myself a bit worked up not nowing

Hi Donna, you don't say what you are going for, is it to see the haematology doctor? I expect they will ask you about your medical history and maybe take some blood tests. I see a haematologist because I am on warfarin and it is poorly controlled even though I do everything they ask me to.

Maybe take a friend with you to the appointment, and a list of things you want to ask.

Hi Donna I used to go to haematology and they had a separate waiting area where the blood test waiting was so haematology patients got through straight away so that the bloods could get processed quickly and you could chat about the results the same day with the consultant. Check to see if they are fasting blood tests because if they are then you can go and have a bite to eat and a drink while the blood is processed and be back in time to see the doctor. If you are in doubt phone the clinic to double check.

Good luck and drink plenty of water other wise you may be dehydrated and they won't get anything out of you it happened to me last week at a routine blood test - lovely bruise though where they dug about!
