Cancer does not win!

Yesterday I took my first sailing lesson. No one on board knows that I have cancer - they just know that I am not as strong, and they allowed me to do as much as I could before gently taking over! I kept trying, and they kept being patient.

Today I went to the Lilac Festival with some of the best friends a person could ever ask for! When I couldn't go anymore I sat in the chair Albert carried for me and they went on exploring - I had to sit a couple times, and yes, it was frustrating - but OH, the power I feel in taking my life back can never be replaced!!

My hope is that you read this and start taking back your lives, too. I've survived 4 primary cancers and am working on surviving the 5th. There was a time when I couldn't do anything, but I refuse to stay there! I want to do as much as possible and on some days it is possible to pretend there isn't any cancer!!

Sailing means resting up the day before and being wiped out the day after, but it is totally worth it to feel the freedom from cancer

Quite the weekend you've had! And it's why we do treatment, so we can go out and live, not wait around to die.

Ann, how exciting for you to do these things! You have more than proven the quote, “You are more than your cancer.” I love your sense of adventure and I hope you experience many more good times!

I’ve just begun my cancer journey, stage IV lung cancer, and you are the inspiration I need as I feel my way. Keep sharing your stories.
