hello...i was 55...i had pneumonia..my dr. sent me for an xray..a mass was found..thru a ct scan..then pet scan and an autopsy..my cancer was found..it was stage 1a..very early..i had no chemo nor radiation..only surgery..a right upper lobotomy..

remember..cancer is the small c..Christ is the big ~~C~~..

Joe! Congratulations! That's almost exactly what happened to me! The pneumonia saved my life, and I too only needed removal of my upper right lung. One big difference: I just celebrated the one year anniversary of my diagnosis.

How long did they follow you for? For now, I'm having scans every 6 months.

for 2 years every 6 mos....for 3 years once a yr..after 5 yrs i was good to go...how ever that was from 2008-2013..in 2017 after not seeing the onc. for 4 yrs i asked my family dr if it would be a good idea to touch base and have an oncologist exam..she said it would..my oncologist retired since..however my new onc..advised me that the new protocol is once a yr exam and ld lunc cancer ct scan..basically lung cancer screening every yr.so that is what i have been doing..

have a great and blessed day..joe

That's amazing and so encouraging - mine was also found via CT scan which I was getting post stage 0 breast cancer to set me up for radiation. My doctor said my stage 0 breast cancer saved my life! Non smoking healthy 50 year old - was shocked! CT scans every 6 months which always anxiety provoking - I lost R LL and had a wedge R UL via VATS - can't even see my scar. Some shortness of breath on hills and stairs but work out (run, bike etc) everyday without issues! Grateful for each new day!
