Budwig no. But i’ve been on the Budweiser diet for some time now. Would recommend this. Just crack open a cold one about 5 pm every day. Beats worrying about my cancer all the time and provides needed calories !

I totally agree with your alternative 'diet'!! The truth is that, there is so much in life that we simply can't control or understand anyway. My mum was diagnosed Stage 4 lung cancer in June18 at the age of 62 and she doesn't drink, smoke, was a vegetarian and an active and relatively carefree person. She is now on Iressa and is doing okay. The important thing is that she has no fear (she is a Christian) (which really helps the rest of us to be brave too). I appreciate all the discussions on treatments and therapies etc, but I don't think one alcoholic drink would make anything worse in the grand scheme of things. Unfortunately my mum doesn't drink as otherwise I would totally be her drink buddy! lol

Hello Ahruaware, Thank you for being part of our healthunlocked community. We encourage everyone to seek out any integrative therapies (still following medical oncology treatment plan for you) in conjunction and approval of your entire healthcare team. Making sure your treating medical oncologist is aware of therapies you are seeking outside of their office. Here is a reputable .org site to look for a practitioner: integrativeonc.org/ First look for integrative therapy centers located or affiliated with cancer centers. Many large academic centers provide integrative therapies and work closely with your oncology healthcare team. Some therapies include nutrition (including vitamins), exercise (including walking and yoga), massage, acupuncture and mind body therapies. We do not recommend alternative therapies where you forgo any of the medical recommended treatments. Remember, there are a very few people who try to take advantage of others especially during with an oncology diagnosis. Of course, all treatment decisions are personal for you and your family and ultimately your decision.

As a side note, many integrative therapies lack clinical trials and funding. There are a few articles mentioning that if you utilize medical cannabis (where legal), it may possibly infer with immunotherapy. Communication with your healthcare team on what you your integrative therapies are is crucial. Feel free to reach out to us anytime at kparham@lungcancerfoundation.org or call 650-779-8286. Warmly, Kim
