Hi. I am 11 months post transplant (AML). I am due to have my childhood vaccines next week. Just worried about reactions etc and it not being in the safety of the hospital.

Hi, gosh 11 mths post transplant, I bet it has been quite a year for you.

Perhaps contact wherever you are having your vaccines and explain your situation and ask about side effects and the safety of the premises and situation you will be in.

Perhaps others will be able to share their personal experiences.

Look after yourself and take care

Thank you for that. I will check with the practice nurse and maybe take somebody with me for back up. Have a great day.

Hi 2003UK I'm a year after my transplant (A.M.L) and I had the last of my childhood vaccinations last Friday. I had all mine done in the Drs Surgery and when I booked the appointments I asked if the nurse would wear a mask and I wore one too. After all of mine I only had a sore arm for a few days. Hope you are keeping well in yourself take care xx

Thanks Sleepey. Nice to hear from people who are at a similar stage to me in this journey. Glad that a sore arm was all you had and fingerd crossed that's all I get. Can I ask where you had your transplant? I had mine at Birmingham Nov 22.

Your welcome Platelets2022. I had my transplant in the University Hospital of Wales Cardiff in September 2023 and it was a year last Saturday I had it done. Thankfully so far they are happy with everything and most importantly we have evicted the Leukaemia. It has been a tough journey for me but I'm well now thats all that matters. How ave you been since your transplant ok I hope. Take care ❤

Glad to hear you are doing well and have reached that one year milestone. It has been a hard journey which you can relate to. I have no MRD but my platelets are still low. Hovering between 50-70 and I had some top up T cells for chimerism. However I have been back at work full time for many months and feel well overall so that is a blessing x
