Hi
Saw my haematologist on Wednesday about my blood results. I have blood tests monthly.
The news could have been better. red cells and platelets fine, but my neutrophils (white blood cell count) had dropped badly.
Because of my age (74), I am on azacitidine injections, plus thioguanine tablets.
Delay further treatment a week for another blood test, to see if any improvement in my WBC, if not may bring forward my biopsy to check what my bone marrow is doing.
The consultant thinks there is toxicity with the thioguanine and they are now reduced to twice a week.
But in myself I feel very good - still wear a mask when out and about - drinks lot of water based drinks - wrong time of year for me for walking (daily temp 30 to 35ºC).
On top of all this my mother-in-law (92) has had a minor/very small stroke in Devon and my wife cannot get back to the UK at the moment to see her..So, all in all not a good week.
Richard
