Half Marathon training and LCHF

Progressoverperfect profile image

Good Afternoon

I am a regular contributor to various forums on the HealthUnlocked website and have been attempting to follow LCHF for some time, I am not Keto ( i try and have between 80-100g carbs) but I thought I would post here.

I am about to start training for my first half marathon in June and was after some advice with regards to nutrition and how i can get the energy i need for getting to the finish line without being completely spent! without eating too many carbs.

Any advise will be gratefully received, I am currently running 5+ miles twice a week with a longer run on Saturday's. I have a 10km race this coming Sunday too.

You may find this amusing, siggie, done 3 months after I started C25K. I was 59, on under 50g carbs and while losing weight :)

I was never a speedy runner, but I did have staying power :D

I never 'over thought' my training and my nutrition remained the same - I did no carb loading and my only treats were after my marathon :)

You can do this and a lot better than I did :)

Thank you! I'm hoping there won't be mud and cow poo on my route as I'm running it in Southport!! There is likely to be a breeze though!!

Maybe you'll be lucky and the breeze will be behind you and it will help to keep you cool :)

Thank you for your very informative reply. I'll take on board your tips.

Good Morning and a Happy Easter 😊 another sunny day , I opted for paella for last night's tea and it was lovely. Another day under calorie allowance, the first time in a long while I have been 'on plan' all week😊We are having a walk in the sunshine later this morning, and my daughter and partner are coming for Sunday Tea later, due their working commitments, we haven't seen them for a few weeks and so looking forward to it 😊

Calorie counting 1900 cals

Food plan is as follows:

LUNCH: scrambled egg, smoked salmon and slice toast

DINNER: Roast Chicken, new potatoes, carrots, green beans and broccoli

A couple of glasses of wine

Happy Easter to everyone and enjoy the day 😀
