Film - Fat Fiction - free on Amazon Prime

I couldn't find this posted on here before using the forum search facility. It's a great film that came out this year, all about low carb, reversing diabetes, and the origins of the lies we've been told about fat over the decades. It's full of doctors, professors, researchers, scientists and even nutritionists.

It's free to Prime members, and costs only a few pounds if you're not:

I've been LCHF for a few years now so I knew about most of the content, but still found it immensely enjoyable. I'm recommending it to all my family and friends who care about their health to watch. It's great for them to hear the evidence from professionals, rather than just listening to me!

Nutritionists?! When did hell freeze over? I must have missed the news announcement :)

I'm a Prime member, so this sounds like a good excuse to get my money's worth.

There are a few low carb nutritionists now in the US it seems, they are very slowly being converted. They can't ignore the clear evidence provided by continuous glucose monitors (CGM's) which are far more widely available in the US. They have a three person trial with CGM's included in the film, people who've not tried low carb before. We're typically behind in the UK aren't we. I'd be fascinated to try a CGM to see my response to various foods, but haven't felt I can justify the cost.

I'd love to try a CGM too. If we can get enough people, then surely the unit price will drop. All we need then are enough doctors with the right machine to attach it to our bodies. I don't fancy doing that myself :)

I've heard it mentioned (in LCHF podcasts) that the units themselves aren't that expensive, it's the sensors that bump up the price and only last two weeks.

Plus you need to buy a traditional glucose monitor to calibrate the CGM against. I've just seen in the UK CGM's are still very expensive.

Loans from clinics is mentioned for some diabetics:

Yes absolutely Public Health England still ignores the mountain of evidence. I was referring more to the individual practitioners seeing it for themselves and not being able to ignore that LCHF works.

So far we only have a handful of low carb doctors in the UK, but at least it's a start.

hi Lesley, thank you for posting this li8nk , I will have a look later.

Thanks for posting this video. I'm pleased to say that the star cast have helped me a lot in getting my health back over the past few years. You're quite right in that it's often difficult to share/get acceptance of our healthy eating beliefs and hopefully this video will make it a little easier with/for family and friends. Thanks again.

Thanks for this Lesley. I have Prime so will watch later. If I wasn't socially distancing I'd invite two or three of my friends round - the ones that think I'm crazy or sadly misguided. And of course my GP and the NHS weight loss group he sent me to - they still promote the healthy eating weight loss plate.

That would be a really good idea. You've given me another idea - I need to email my GP this week, so I'm going to include a link to the film in the email and suggest she watches it. I did lend her a Dr Malcolm Kendrick book before on statins (Statin Nation), so she does seem to have a slightly more open mind than a lot of GPs. Will also mention there's a Low Carb NHS Online Training Programme for doctors, prepared by Dr David Unwin, and ask has she heard of it!
