I have been diagnosed with ITP nine years ago back in dec. 2009, I was on my way to CA and I was told my blood count went to 2,000 from my primary care so I had to see a specialist, I went in and they gave me prednisone, for two weeks, they advised me not to go but I had already got the ticket so I went and took prednisone. I came back and I was under the care of this specialist, So for these nine years I had infusions, nplate, ivig and prednisone to keep my platelet count up but nothing worked and bleeding episodes, bruises and everything that came along with it and didn’t kept me in remission so flash forward nine years later I was advised to get my spleen out because my platelets weren’t staying up after ivig it would skyrocket then plunge down after 2 weeks! So I got my spleen out April, 13, 2018! And so far my platelets has stayed up! Lets hope they stay that way!

I had my spleen out in march and so far my numbers are staying in the 300's. I too am hopeful this has worked. Prednisone was terrible for my body. And I am still feeling the repercussions from long term use. Sending good thoughts to you that this has been a real solution as well.
