My son was diagnosed in June of 2017 with the count of 2. He received IVIG and within a week his blood platelets were up to the five hundreds. Slowly but surely they will drop down to the 20th and he'd get a treatment again. He's had about four or five treatments of the IVIG. He has not had a treatment since December and his counts have ranged from 47 to today was 12. So today or doctor decided to start him on a steroid for 4 days and we are to return on Saturday for blood work to see how the steroid has done for 2 days. Everyone talks about and children it being a cute and never returning but nobody ever updates to let us know if it's ever completely stayed away or if it has returned. And today I was talking to another mother at the doctor's office whose daughter has ITP and just had a relapse after contacting croup. My son has never had any other kind of sickness or infection other than croup so I'm wondering as any other children contacted croup and then following having ITP? Thanks for any advice I'm just a little frustrated with the fact that so many people have it but yet they don't know what's going on or what's causing it

Your son must be a poor eater, please give him fresh fruit every morning and evening, fresh green juice of spinach/kale/celery everyday if possible. No processed or canned food,he will be out of it soon.Everything you feed him must be fresh and organic.

I don’t know where you’re information but to suggest that the child will be fine if the mother follows your diet is absurd. While a healthy well balanced diet is necessary to promote health and wellbeing there is no evidence that “fresh green juice” every day will cure or improve his ITP. You should be ashamed of yourself!

Hi jmcleod, Children generally develop ITP after a bacterial/viral infection that overwhelmes the immune system and attacks it’s own platelets (autoimmune). My niece develop hemolytic anemia after a mild viral infection, was treated with steroids for two years and was CURED. There is no cure for ITP at this time, only long remission for as long as ten years. Your child is young and research is on going, please continue with scientifically proven treatments and learn as much as you can about ITP it’s causes and treatment options. This site has great educational materials, the more you know the better the care your child will receive. Be well:)
