I have had ITP for about 2 years now, been treated with spleenectomy, steroids, ivig, and others. During all this time I have been taking tamsulosin and have never noticed any correlation between that and my platelet count. Also my doctor never asked me to stop taking it or adjust anything about it.

I googled tamulosin/ Itp and some American medical sites seem to think there was a link.

Hi there,

I was diagnosed with ITP in 2007. From 2011 I was on Tamsulosin which was replaced with Alfuzosin as the former contra-indicated ITP. In my case, Tamsulosin did negatively affect my platelets.

Regards.
