I have had chronic ITP for 10 years I was wondering if it would be safe to have a tongue piercing? since there is many veins in the tongue?

Quite honestly Why would you? There are many veins in the tongue and nobody is going to see it but you. I urge you to think again.

I would think this would be very foolish - I have a count around 65 with the help of Nplate and if I cut myself shaving it can take most of the day to stop bleeding. Deliberately inflicting a wound on myself would not be high on my list of things to do!

I can't answer your question, but I do know the tongue heals faster than any other bit of the body. And you can do what you like (but take the consequences).

hi if you are really want it doing ,have a blood test first to check platelets , i had mine pierced 9 yrs ago ,itp was dianosed 11 yrs ago, had to take tonge bar out after 6 months nothing to do with itp ,i cracked 3 back teeth whith chewing bar when asleep lol ,, i have had tattoos also since diagnosis ,but since splenectomy have been advised nothing else as my own body rejects foriegn objects eg metal,ink etc .. hope this helps
