Somehow I knew when I answered the phone this morning it was going to be bad news. I’d had this horrible feeling in my gut that things weren’t right. Doctor told us she went into cardiac arrest this morning but they were able to shock the heart back into rhythm. She has multiple organ failure and her crp markers are above 500. We’ve also been told the words we have been dreading “prepare for one family member to come in”. I really don’t know how we are supposed to choose which one of us can go and see her for what might possibly be the last time. We aren’t ready for that she is only 23! Is it still possible for her to recover from this? Have any of you or family members experienced similar and come through it?

Hi Olivia
This happened to my husband twice and we were told that he wasn't going to make it. He had cardiac arrest and they shock the heart and it was bad. Being a Christian family we started prayer chain and the next day all was calm and in place. My husband is still fighting with God's help. The next day it was calm and that when the medications was working. You may see tomorrow that she is stable same as we saw for my husband. Keep the hope.
Stay strong 🙏🏻
She's fighting and has the age factor on her side.
Praying for good news in the upcoming hours ⚘
I really hope you get the news today that your sister has stabilised. I’ll say a extra little prayer for her . She is so young am sure that age is on her side 🙏😢xx
I have said a little prayer for your sister , I really hope she has stabilised today xx
Yes ask my wife. Multiple organ failure on a grand scale if that is possible. No realistic chance of survival & I was 30yrs your sister’s senior. She is young and that will stand her well. I had my heart shocked multiple times, dialysis for 7wks & at one point my lungs were described as resembling liver they were that dense.
How is it going for your sister? Keeping her in our prayers x
I really hope you'll be back with great positive news! You're sister is so young and I pray she recovers.. sending you lots of love xxx
38 years old, went into hospital, husband told I would not last the night. I'm here, 4 years later, to say keep strong, we are all here to support you x
Praying that she stabalises and you get some postive news Olivia🙏🏽🤞🏼 xx
I’m so sorry :(((( please continue to have faith and believe she will pull through!!! Sending lots of love and please try to find the positives and keep hope for her 💕 she will feel it xxx
Really sorry to read that your sister is so Ill. I do hope there is better news soon.
Thank you everyone for your messages, I really do appreciate it. She is still with us and fighting. Very strange feeling this morning, we know how lucky we are but are all sat on edge waiting for things to go wrong again😢 The nurse said she had a comfortable night. She remains critical but we are keeping as positive as we can for her.
Amen I am so happy she is fighting. Keep the hope and we will keep her in our prayers.
That's amazing! She's making it. I know how you feel. It's the worst thing ever but as we said she's young and that definitely helps. I dunno if you read before but I posted the story of Nick Cordero a Canadian actor who's is fighting hard against Covid and he has endured so much and still on the battle. Take a look:

Thankyou! that has definitely given me some hope this morning. If he has managed to come through so much and still be fighting then so can my sister! I’m going to read his story to my mom xx
Hi Olivia, so pleased to see this, I haven't stopped thinking about you all. She is in the best place with a great team of experts looking after her. xx
Oh thank goodness, keeping her in my thoughts Olivia, she is fighting so stay strong xx
Thank you, we are staying as positive as we can. How is your dad doing now?xx
So today they are stopping the paralysing agent and reducing sedation so keeping my fingers crossed he manages ok🤞🏼
Also trying him on cpap mode again so I hope he does ok and oxygen requirement currently 55%
It's one of those where I am so pleased they feel he is stable enough to try this today but also so worried he won't manage it however need to keep postive and take one day at a time.
Are you ok? Looking after yourself? Xx
I totally get the worry, like you say one day at a time and if the doctors think he is strong enough to try cpap then that’s amazing news. I am keeping everything crossed for you that things go well.
I think I’m running on adrenaline at the moment. The hospital normally ring between 5-7pm so I try to stay busy throughout the day so the time goes quicker. Once she’s more stable and I’m less emotional I’m hoping to get back to work. How about you lovely?xx
Did you get your update? Hope she is more stable?
Yes I've been working, I work in the NHS in senior management so kind of had to go back which has been good at times as keeps me occupied but hard other times when dealing with covid at work too. Xx
That must be so hard having to deal with covid at work too.
Tonights update -CRP markers still rising, they think the infection is resistant to the antibiotic so are trying alternatives. They have proned her to try and give more lung capacity as the chest xray today showed she’s barley got any good lung left. She’s still using the limit of the ventilator at the moment, but she’s still fighting so we have to stay strong for her.
I hope today has been a better day for your dad xx
Hi hun
How is your lovely sister today?
X
No change, still critical Doctor was quite stern on the phone and said he is very worried about her. It’s hour by hour at the moment. I hope you’ve had better news about your dad?xx
Is she still proned?
Did it help with her oxygen requirement?
Hang in there lovely, stay strong and we don't lose hope whilst they are still breathing and fighting! Xx
She was still proned this evening, they are changing position every 6-8hrs, but it isn’t helping with oxygen requirement. She’s been needing 100% since Saturday night. We face timed earlier, praying that she heard us xx
🙏🏽 let's keep sending her positive and healing vibes xx
Hoping for better news tomorrow 🤞🏻🙏🏻xx
How is she today and how are you? X
She’s responding to proning now, oxygen was down to 80% on her front this morning. They’ve started her on a stronger antibiotic and steroids. I’m praying that things will start to improve now, she’s my best friend and I don’t know what I'd do without her xx
Hoping your sister turns a corner tomorrow , she’s still fighting I’ll say a extra prayer for you and your sister tonight 🙏💕
Thinking of you all and hope she is still fighting 💪🙏💜 xxx
Thank you lovely, we had a promising phone call this morning. Her oxygen was down to 80% whilst proned so hopefully she will continue to improve xxx
Oh that’s definitely what you all need to hear 💕🙏 and it means she’s not giving up 💪
What a fighter she is ❤️❤️❤️ Xxx
The doctors have said the same, she’s definitely fighting with everything she has. My mom has been able to go to the hospital tonight to sit and hold her hand and give her lots of encouragement. We just need these antibiotics to start clearing the infections now 🤞🏻🙏🏻xxx
Aww that’s good news small steps in the right direction .
She’s a fighter 💪 xxx
He’s doing ok , still on a weaning plan for his ventilator it’s just very slow. He’s managed to stand up today with a walking frame getting physically stronger every day .
He refused to do a zoom call today I think he’s just really fed up not being able to communicate back he’s been there 7 weeks now it’s such along time .
Hoping he strong enough to get the tracheotomy valve next week so he can talk to us .
Fast forward a few weeks I think your sister will be doing the same things . I had a call two weeks ago to say his prognosis was looking grim and after a chest drain he’s came on loads . Keep the faith she’s came this far xx
Yer he is , hasn’t been given any sedation for the last three weeks . He was at first confused and at times suffering with ICU delirium but that’s now easing off.
He has a tracheotomy, but is still ventilator dependent x
Hi Oliva, stay positive, we allnhad that horrible phome, we had that 3 times. i havent been messaged much as as we got the call on Friday that my dad condition was getting worse the Tracheostomy was leaking for the second time and he got second bound of pneumonia and hear has enlarged and not pumping the blood as normal and his oxygen level was sky high, he had to go through 2 ops over the weekend to see why it was leaking. They still could find the reason why but by sunday late evening they manage to stop the leak and he had procedure with a camera and found his throat had a huge slash. He currently stable sedated and been given strongest antibiotics and now its a waiting game.
I Hope every love ones recovers and home soon.
Oh I’m so sorry to hear that. I hope that now they have been able to sort the trachy out you will start to see an improvement in his condition. I feel your pain, waiting for those phone calls makes me feel physically sick. But we have to believe in these nurses and doctor’s that are looking after our loved ones. They really are doing an incredible job. I hope you get some positive news soon and I wish your dad all the best.
Hope your sister is making better progress today Olivia !It’s a tough ride, we are 7 weeks plus down the line now.🙏🏾🤞🏾
How are you all? How are you loved ones?
im so sorry writing about the progress my father making, how insensitive of me.
So sorry, sorry to hear of your loss.
