I am taking life long warfarin due to being diagnosed with thrombophlia after having a DVT. I have Subsequently been diagnosed with arthritis of the lower spine. I am thinking about taking glucosamine. My question is, is anyone taking glucosamine with warfarin with no I’ll effects.
Thank you in advance.

Hi I have been taking glucosamine whilst on Warfarin for about 20 years now and have no problems at all. It definitely helps but it does take about 3 months before it kicks in so I would say go for it.
Hi. Thank you so much for your reply. I think I will start taking glucosamine. I’m hoping it will help ease the pain in my back. My INR is checked frequently, so I will be able to see if it has any marked effect on my readings.
Please check in with your main consultant and GP before you take any supplement, we advise this with any question like this. I hope they can guide you a little MaryF
Almost everything will change the Warfarin. So the first weeks you should take some more test with your CoaguChek XS. Remember there is a difference between the vein- and the fingerprick value very very often for us. Also listen to Marys advice
Hi, I have also been on Warfarin for a long time and will be forever. I have taken Glucosamine with no ill effects. I test myself and just increased the tests to weekly and nothing happened. As has been said already just get you INR checked frequently for a while.
