Oh polarbea, I was thinking of you yesterday and I’m so sorry to hear you are in so much pain. Did you have total or laparoscopic surgery ? I imagine it is the wind pain, it is totally excruciating but it will ease - hopefully today will be a better day and they can help get your pain under control. Just take each hour as it comes and you will get through these first couple of days. Have they given you any morphine ?

Sending very gentle hugs x

They given me every drug going trying to get the pain under control I want for a CT scan yesterday which showed loads of air in my tummy and pelvis they were worried that there could have been a rupture on my bladder or kidney and I was going to go back into surgery this morning. Last night they gave me antibiotics etc this morning my infection levels came down from 200 to 100, so they didn’t go ahead with the surgery . My left side down by my pelvis is what is giving me the most pain when trying to move .

Do you recommend any support pants etc when I. Leave the hospital xx

Gosh, sounds as though you have really been through the mill 😳 glad that you did not have to have a second op. The air just has to find its way out and it will eventually......but it certainly is grim. Fingers crossed for a much better day tomorrow, have you been able to sleep at all ?

I had abdominal surgery and could not bear anything over my wound / dressing so support pants were not for me. I lived in nightshirts and/or loose trackies for weeks ! I know other people really rate them though to help feeling more secure, especially when walking around.

Keep going, it will hopefully start to get easier soon x

Hope you are doing better!

As the other ladies have said it is painful especially to try to move around. You really do have to take it slow. Have you tried putting an ice pack on the incision? having an ice pack in addition to my meds really helped me with the swelling and excruciating pain. You will get there and it will start being more manageable each day Wishing you a safe recovery

Come home Monday afternoon still in pain and have to inject myself into my tummy to prevent blood clots for 28 days. . I’m on antibiotics and pain relief I have terrible pain in my lower back and while in hospital started to get a bed sore, xx just trying to take one day at a time to be honest thanks Louise

My name is Emma xx it’s been so thoughtful of you thinking about me thank you xxx

Hi Emma, well done on getting home. Yes those injections are not fun are they. I had to get my hubby to do mine as I could not face it. I had a really tough time after my op with a severe wound infection ( didn’t want to freak you out before your op!) so can totally relate to all the issues you are dealing with. I had severe back pain and my heels were really sore from having to rest in bed so much of the time. It feels like a mountain to climb right now to get back to feeling normal, but you will get there, even if it takes a long time. A nurse gave me a good piece of advice post-op - she told me ‘don’t be a warrior’ i.e. take all the pain relief that you (safely) can while you need to. Hopefully once you get the antibiotics and the anti-coagulant injections out of the way, you will start to see small improvements day by day.

Keep in touch x

HI Emma, happy to hear that you are home :) Hope all is well and you're getting better by the day. I also had that feeling that my insides were falling out on the first two weeks. I bought a binder support but in the end didn't use it because I couldn't stand having anything around my belly because of the pain. Also, sometimes things are a lot better and then I walk a bit and then end up two paces back, and it is normal. It seems like it gets worse before it gets better. Please take care and be gentle on yourself. I am now on the 7th week after surgery. It feels great.
