Happy Easter Sunday all

How long are people waiting for results as I had a punch biopsy taken on the 15th March and also my smear done at the same time and I can see my results on the NHS APP for smear and this is negative but high risk hpv and referral to colposcopy which I'm also Still waiting for but I've not had nothing through the post and no results from biopsy!!

And I'm getting more and more wound up about it as the last time in 2019 it took over a month as well and it was vulva cancer so the saying of no news is good news really isn't a true statement...

Hi there, Thank you for your message. Ok so let's separate this into smear results/colposcopy and biopsy results:

- Smear results/colposcopy - it can sometimes take a few weeks for a colposcopy appointment to come through, but we wonder if there has potentially been an admin error, as if someone tests positive for HPV, but no abnormal cells, then they wouldn't be referred for a colposcopy appointment (unless they had a persistent HPV result, 3 or more times) - so it might be that there are as you say, no cell changes/abnormal cells, and therefore a colposcopy isn't actually needed, or it might be that there are cell changes and hence the note to invite you for a colposcopy. To confirm either way, can we advise that you contact your hospital's colposcopy department - Googling the hospital/gynae department/colposcopy will give the phone number and email address of the colposcopy department.

- Biopsy results - again, it can sometimes take 4-ish weeks for biopsy results, but it's worth contacting the gynae department/team/consultant's secretary to chase for these if you've still not received them.

Our information service, Ask Eve, is available on nurse@eveappeal.org.uk if you would like to ask any further questions.

Best Wishes,

Thank you AskEve I will get onto them today, I've had pre cancerous cells in the past but that was 2005/06 and had loop diathermy, all smears since have been clear I did have the Mirena coil fitted under General A last April because since my full vulvectomy in 2019 my periods have been not so good and tbh since having it fitted they still are bad, the last smear test I had was due during 2019 so I got it about a month earlier prior to my surgery and that was clear.

I saw the oncologist 10 days after the biopsy was done. He said we are starting chemo next week, on the assumption that it is High Grade Serous Ovarian Cancer. He added that the biopsy results should be here in a couple of weeks, max, and before the second cycle. If the results are not compatible with the ongoing treatment, we'll change our plans.

The oncologist did a few chases but in the end no one knew why this delay was. My biopsy results took 6 months to be ready. It was HGSOC. By then, I have had 4 cycles and then the debulking surgery,

It could well be my very bad luck as the samples taken from my tumours during surgery have been destroyed by the lab while they were preparing them to be tested. So, I was waiting and waiting. Then they gave me this bad news a year from my surgery. I was then told that they don't have a budget to repeat the test. So by now no one knows if my tumours have had a mutation or not.

I very much hope that you'll have a better luck and everything goes your way.
