crying seizures? Neurological pain all over?

Hi everyone, I was diagnosed with fnd about 8yrs ago. Just found this site. Does anyone else have crying seizures when they’re stressed or over stimulated? I can’t control it, makes me curl up and cry so intensely, tears flood and my mouth and neck tense up a lot, they last 30 seconds to a minute usually, once its over i can clean myself up and carry on as normal. I am 100% aware and can hear everything and know where I am etc. but cant talk as crying so intensely. Im not actually “crying on the inside” but the intense crying is worse than if I just heard my whole family died. I know about dycrastic and pseudo bulbar affect, I’ve researched them and they dont seem to be it… anyone else get these? Bek

Hi.Yes I cry in seizures don't have a clue why.

I think with FND anything goes. So don't be surprised by anything. I don't. I currently have seizures and think my name is eyore. But this changes all the time. It's so odd.

I'm suffering with terrible burning sensation and the pain is awful.

Keep hanging on in there xx

Thankyou Eyore 😂 (I love that) It must be because he always has a cloud hanging over him, and so do we… are your seizures just crying or do you shake as well? yeah my face gets full burning all over it so much that i scream in pain and my family runs and gets ice to put on it.. I even bought ice masks off amazon. But yeah neuralgia stabbing pains all over my face and body. Id cut back to one shift of 3hrs at work but had to fully quit today as I know theres no way I can do it now ive gotten so bad the last month. Im going to a neurologist to have an mri n check for ms lesions. Im pretty sure i had an “ms hug” this morning, agony on n off for about 2hrs…Not sure if they happen in fnd?

Could it be anything related to this:

nhs.uk/conditions/trigemina...

If the pain is so intense and comes on suddenly, crying in pain would be a natural reaction.

in reply toLady4

Thankyou Lady4 I dont ever have crying seizures with the pain, even though it is the worst pain ever, yes I do believe it to be a kind of trigeminal neuralgia, although about 5yrs ago a neurologist tapped my face all over and told me that because that didn’t trigger the pain, it wasn’t trigeminal neuralgia. My pains just come randomly all over my face without being touched… just like my feet and a but hands too.

Your welcome but from what I read it starts slowly and then the burning sensations etc, so five years ago you prob wouldn't have responded the same (if you know what I mean).

I had to give up work 3 years ago. Do you think I should let my neurologist know about the burning sensations.

I shake sometimes with the crying. If you ever want to talk always here

in reply toSeamer37

Thanks Seamer37

Ive told my neurologist about the burning and they just say oh yes another sensation 🙄

Thats so wrong because there does some to be some medication that may help. What is wrong with these Specialists aren't they supposed to help :-(

I have never heard of that but recall someone sharing a website about burning sensations. Maybe they are still here and can shed some light. Think it was called "burning nights", will see if there is any connection with face burning.

Update: Burning nights is to do with CRPS.

No, I do not. I have mood swings, as in extreme anger and frustration before a functional seizure. FND affects the emotion centre part of the brain.

Yes it effects the limbic system. Maybe a sensory distraction technique could help, if you feel yourself getting angry. Kind of try and stop the cycle of events.

Yes. I feel so stupid when i get one. It is accompanied by shaking of arms and i have to park my walker..... or sit on it. I put the a/c on the wrong setting last night and froze all night. It's 11am and I'm still upset but under control.

Don't feel stupid, its not your fault as you its sometimes difficult to predict when seizures can happen. As for accidentally turning the AC on it can happen to anyone so don't stress or get upset.Hugs xx

Well i have a 3-1/2 hour drive home today from Mayo Clinic.... that will get me 10 more degrees warmer. My 82 year old mom drives me because my legs are FND

My daughter does cry sometimes. It's not as intense as what you are describing, but it does happen. It's very hard to watch. Her dad can usually calm her some by just talking and holding her hand.
