Hi

Are you sure you did not get this from an italian restaurant?

I had to look it up and the italians are not helpful with their hiding their menus.

I did find NHS Choices very informative, it does have some weird side effects but is quite a capable drug if used in accordance with the instructions.

Sorry but I have no experience of it but I do feel sure you will get some help and advice soon as we ware a strange lot, we often come out at night and that could be the reason for the fog its because we are a bit batty.

Ah well can't have everything

Good luck, Take care and kindest regards.

Terry

not sure if it available in the U.K. yet x

I looked on the national fibromyalgia website and it says no conclusive evidence has shown it to help and not to buy the synthetic version available to buy online .. I haven't tried it but then I never buy any supplements and certainly not online

Hope that hopes a little

Interesting responses. Melatonin is supposed to be a natural substance that aids sleep. A friend of mine gave me some to try but I've not tried them as our local reliable health shop doesn't stock them, so I didn't like that.

I would be very wary of this! There are hundreds of people out there offering a miracle cure - at a price! If you can't sleep, it might be worth asking your GP's advice. Most of us have found a solution after a bit of trial and error!

The only supplement i have ever found of any use is cod liver oil capsules. i have definitely been a bit easier in the joints on this, but it may be because i have arthritis as well as fibro.

I have heard that melatonin is used quite widely by people to get over jet lag. Like many people I read that it is very useful in assisting with sleep.....but not necessarily in people like us with fibro . It is widely available abroad but not here in the UK.

Thanks Foggy. I'm not sure why the UK are funny about it. I actually have some that were given to me by a friend but I've not tried them yet. They seemed to help my friend with sleep problems.

Hi

I get if from my GP, I take 3mg a night. I was on amytriptyline but suffered a lot of adverse side-effects. I like this it's based on a hormone so has less side-effects. It can't say it's a miracle cure because it's not but my sleep has been a big issue for me for a long time and at least I don't sleep any more badly on melatonin than I did on amytriptyline and I don't get all the side-effects.

It apparently only works in around 50% of people and as it's a hormone it's not licenced but your GP can prescribe it and i would approach them, rather than buying it online.

Thanks Silverstar.

I know that our GP practise is stingy when it comes to spending on the non-usual drugs. She once prescribed me amytriptiline but I never took it and probably never will, not after my sister's experience although she was on 75 ml! It scared her and scared me just seeing how zonked it can make you!

I was prescribed this by GP(I live in Australia) but only took one as the taste of it and the taste it left in my mouth took 3 days to get rid of. I also felt very very strange the next day so no good for me having to work full time. You may have better vluck.
