Morning! Planning on getting an armful of blood taken today, does anyone know if it is ok to take ibuprofen before the test? I've just taken one and had a thought that it may cause a problem? Help!

Just had a look for you.. You don't mention if it is a fasting blood test or just bloods.. A fasting blood test can be affected by ibuprofen so it would be a good idea to mention it to the nurse or whoever is taking your blood, on the other hand the information I read says do not stop taking your prescription meds unless told to by your doctor ...If ibuprofen is prescribed it would seem you were right to take it but again mention it.. If it was me I would just tell whoever is taking your blood what meds you are on and what you have had to take..

Hope that didnt confuse you too much

Good luck

Thanks so much VG. I haven't been told it's fasting, so hopefully I'm good to go, but will tell the nurse what I've taken. Great advice, thanks. xx
