Has anyone had a referral to St Thoma... - Fibromyalgia Acti...
Has anyone had a referral to St Thomas's hospital London and would you recommend it?
Which department are you being referred to?
I was just reading that they have a specialist fibro clinic there and wanted to do a bit of research into it.
Hi there, this is my first ever on FibroAction so here goes.
I was refurred to St Thomas's for a 1 month live in pain course, covering hydrotherapy, pain management and physio to name a few therapies, by my pain clinic consultant when they could offer me no further help. So i went along for the inital consultation, and was told that i am doing everything they would get me to do, gave me a dvd and a booklet with information about pain management and i left. A week later i went back to see my pain clinic consultant and he told me that there was no more they could do for me, just keep taking the meds and pase yourself, and with that i was discharged. That was 2 years ago, now the pain is worse and i have now been refurred back to pain clinic by my GP. I feel like just when i seem to be getting somewhere i come across another brick wall.
Hope you have better luck than me
Take care.
Well keep your chin up and try to stay positive, In the begining you do feel very alone and isolated. Before i was diognosed i saw 4 different consultants and had numerous blood tests and they all came back as negative, in the end i saw a consultant that put a name to what i was feeling and i could finally begin to understand my condition. She used a pressure point scale on specific areas on my body and i felt like hitting her because of the pain, she then explained my condition as being Fibromyalgia and Hypomobility Syndrome, she wrote to my doctor and requested a refurral to pain clinic. I know that it is costly to see a consultant privately but that was what i had to do to get the answers i needed.
I hope you manage to see someone soon.
Take care.
The Fibro clinic is at Guys Hospital (Guys and St Thomas' hospital are under one trust):
