Thankfully I've got an appointment at the psin clinic tomorrow. Can't be doing with amitriptyline, makes me drowsy the next day and makes me hungry, does anyone else have this problem? Really glad I'm not on shift tomorrow. Gentle hugs to all.

MY gp has just put me on it for this tri..neuralgia and it is helping me sleep and i do feel like a zombie most of the time but it is combined with gabapentin, tramadol, diazepam, co codamol, meloxicam so not sure which or all are to blame. I am very hungry but because of the pain in my face and jaw ive only eaten a tin of rice pudding since tuesday!!!! Would kill for a juicy steak with chips, onion rings, mushrooms, peas, oh god!!!!! Am now drooling like a rabid dog lol! xx

Hi Chalii I have bad pain in my jaw when it was at its worst I ended up eating baby food as its realy soft and easy to eat, soups no good as they put chunks of meat and veg in that aint soft enough in my opinion, hope your jaw eases off for you soon. Sithy

Thanks for your reply. I think I'll stop complaining now. Your jaw pain sounds awful. I really do hope you manage to eat something other than rice pudding! X

I was amitriptaline for a month slept for over 12 hours at night and felt like a zombie all day , my concentration and co ordination went to pieces and no pain relief so gave them up

Hi, I was put on amitriptaline to start with, but within a week I was like a zombie .......... When I called my GP she had to wean me off Amitriptaline & started on Gabapentine. Started on a low dose, now on a very high dose .things aren't that good though , I have put on 3 1/2 stone as the Gabapentine makes you feel hungry all the time......... Now I need to see a dietition & go back to see the rhumatologist........ It took my GP 4 years to diagnose FM , that was nearly 4 years ago.......... To add to my problems I now have arthritis in my wrists & knees. .......... WHAT EVER NEXT ! I'm sick of being sick.I'm 54 but I feel 84......... My meds are Gabapentine, MST (morphine), citalopram, clonidine, omeprazole, sumatriptan, & etodolac...... I hope your Gp finds you the meds that suit you . Good luck Malwimmy27. Fibro Hugs ((((O)))) X ............Julie.

I have been on amitriptaline for 19 years and never had any problems. Not only are they for pain & to help you sleep they help to stop depression for being in pain all the time. Luckily They have worked for me

That's good to hear, I know a couple of people it works for with no sidd effects. It used to help me sleep when I first started taking it. I didn't want an increase in dose due to the side effects. I think I'll go back to promethazine.

I like you have took Amitriptaline for around 19 years but not for Fibromyalga although it was for back pain, as I have slight scoliosis my spine goes over to the left at the bottom ,I believe I had fibro all those years ago, but it wasn't recognised . I went to see my GP with rib pain, ended up minus a Gall Bladder but still have pain to this day, Went to see a New GP and told her I had chest pain that hurt to touch and after 23 years of the same pain I now know I have Fybromyalga and the first thing she did was up the dosage of Amitriptaline .

Hi Mollieo I'm the Same been on them on an off for 20 years now, they are also prescribed to me to relax the muscles as I get bad muscle spasms, I find they only tend to knock me out if I take them before I eat. Sithy
