My right foot.....

I hope some of you wonderful members are having a decent day today.

Anyway on to my surgeons appointment at 10.30am this morning(15/01/13). I was not waiting long before I was called(made a change), but long enough for the foot to tighten though. I went in and the doctor/surgeon went through the details he had from my GP and then he asked me what had been happening. So I told him.

Off came the boots, jeez, the right boot was now that tight on my foot I thought it was going to have to be cut off. Then socks off and then walk as best I can to the examination bed. He pulled and pushed, prodded and poked, me wincing, yelling and jumping up in the air to the point I nearly went through the ceiling at one pull. And then back to the chair. Told to leave feet bare, what! My feet were going blue with the cold. Then stand up again and turn my back to him. Sit back down, cover feet up.

'Right then' he says 'this is where we are at, the first pop you felt back in November was definitely the plantar fascii rupturing, and is still ruptured',

Me. 'ok'

'And' he goes on 'the second pop or rip you felt was the large sinew on the inside of the ankle rupturing, all badly inflamed'.

Me 'don't you need to do x-rays?' '

Him, 'No, I am an orthopaedic surgeon, I know ruptures when I feel and see them and we are most likely talking surgery here and your heel is already deforming'.

Me 'nope, I cannot consider surgery right now, not until I get my daughter sorted out and then I would consider surgery'.

So he has agreed to try some other forms of treatment to stop it all tightening up for now but he wants to avoid injections as he feels it would cause me more pain and problems in the long run.

And all this down to the fact it was not sorted properley first time around(my own fault as I came out of the strapping when daughter rushed in back in December). He has referred me to podiatry for now to be fitted for insoles to raise something or other, and splints(possibly for both feet as limping on right is causing a strain to tendons on left)to wear at night, or when I am not out and about.

But he has warned that surgery will most likely be the only thing that works and I should consider it. I am considering it most definitely, just when it will happen I have no idea. He has also given me a one year open appointment slip should I need to see him if things get worse(how much worse can it get) so that is a good thing as you just ring up and in you go.

So I am gutted to say the least. It is my own fault for expecting a quick fix so that I can get on with my life. Oh and he wants me on 8 Tramadol a day with paracetamol at least twice a day and he is contacting GP about anti-inflamms plus gastro meds. Talk about shake. rattle and roll. As for 8 Tramadol a day, no chance. I take one twice a day and I itch now. I might try 4 a day spaced out at regular intervals and see how it goes.

Then I hit Maccys for a coffee paid for by hubby, he just never knew he paid for it until I got home, not that he minded. I just needed time to let it all sink in. But all this is not helping the fibro. I think I am being tested lol

OUCHY OUCH i used to hate going to ortho as always came out sorer than when i went in

and the positions he needed me to get into for xrays well !

Hopefully the implant and splints will work enough for you to delay the op

Nope it feels worse but hey ho at least I have one good foot, well sort of if you discount the gout xxxxx
