Social services made a good job of sorting out my mothers bungalow when she started with a lot of difficulties and social services in a totally different area did a good job helping my mother-in-law, so yes give them a try.

Good luck

An Occupational Therapist can also advise you on home modifications. Speak to your GP about this, hopefully they can help you and guide you in the right direction.

There is also a Disabled Facilities Grant available from your local council to enable you to modify your house. It is means tested and if you have enough income you have to contribute towards this. You have to meet certain criteria to be considered eligible - for example be on DLA, Income Support and income related ESA to name a few that meet the criteria.

Here is some info about this -

Hope this helps. Take care. :)
