There is a lot there.

I suspect that he may well be right - especially that highly motivated people ignore their symptoms and they carry on despite of them; I was always exhausted whilst I was teaching, looking after my girls and hanging on to a marriage that was crumbling around me - fast forward to me in a much better place, seperated, new love, physically and mentally fittest I'd been in years and I have strokes and CFS/ME and then more recently Fibromyalgia comes along to try to steel my life from me!!!

I'm just relieved that I was comparatively fit when I had the strokes and I survived them! There is a death rate of about a third, a third make a complete recovery and a third are left with long term illnesses CFS/ME being very common.

I wonder if I was predestined to get CFS and Fibro as I was diagnosed with an underactive thyroid 18 years ago. My previous GP also used to say the blood tests were an indication and he prefered to go by how I felt. My current GP treats the blood tests like the gold standard, he was even talking about reducing my dosage - but has had second thoughts and left well alone.

I am now on 225mg of levethyroxine daily.

I knew it! I just knew it!! I went through some horrendous abuse as a child, lost my hair aged 12 and everytime since when life has got really tough (have had my fair share trust me) things have just got worse & worse. Developed (or rather diagnosed with) thyroid problems after birth of younger daughter 23 years ago, when it was swinging from hyper-hypo and back again with no warning for the next 18 months. 2 years ago my darling hubby died and my health probs. have escalated and after 20+ years on 200mcg levothyroxine my gp (excellent gp) has put me on 250mcg. She said she had never seen such a low reading with highest TSH in anyone still able to function on any level at all. So much of this article makes so much sense, and gives me answers I have been looking for for so long. THANKYOU!!!!!!!
