I know it's different for everyone but has anyone found any meds/alternative therapies that are particularly helpful for fibro?

Hi panda

I take Mirtazipine 45mg every night to help with depression, sleep and serotonin levels.

for everything else I have went down the holistic route.

I have massages, acupuncture, meditation, visualisation/mindfulness, and chakras (self taught) yoga for gentle stretching and relaxing of muscles and I had CBT and had hypnotherapy which really helped me.deal with all the changes and helped me through the grieving for the old me, it also helped me get some deep sleep.

hope this helps x

I've found out about something called D-Ribose. I've tried it and it works, for me any way. It replaces a certain type of sugar in your muscles that your body naturally produces, except that ours don't produce it and that why we're tired all the time. I've not been as weary and with that less irritable. I got it from Holland and Barratts and it was quite expensive, £20 for 200 capsules, but you can get it on-line cheaper.

Plenty of rest and a nice warm jacuzzi now and again.

Ask your Doctor for Pregabalin they won't prescribe it as it costs the practice a lot but insist as it gave me a good run !

I take a mix of the usual medicines for Fibro including pregabalin but in terms of alternative therapies a friend of a friend came to my house and did some reflexology with me. It was at a time when I was getting very little sleep and I found it wonderfully relaxing. Jane x

I recently went to my docs for a steroid injection for tennis elbow, in discussion he asked about my Fybro and asked if Id ever tried anti inflamatory meds for my tennis elbow, I said no and he asked me to try Naproxin/naprosyn (for my tennis elbow) before we tried the injection. I am amazed at the overall pain relief ive had, its amazing! I have got some form of quality of life back, my mood has lifted (everyone has noticed) This drug was not even given for my Fybro but has worked wonders :-)
