I've found this, are you taking co-codamol by any chance? Because one of the side-effects of taking them is constipation - just taking Dulco-lax or something similar helps me the next morning :) Beth xx

Dihydrocodeine as required, Nigel my pharmacist, says it only may take a couple of tablets to block! Thankyou, berthy x

I had the exact same this week, worst it's ever been, and you would wonder if it is also some intollerance or to do with fibro, that's true. I've diverticular disease, and I can usually manage with the daily movical, and remembering my fruit and veg, and water, but I got iron tablets that were recommended by a surgeon, 200gm a day for 3 months, I found they blocked up my system too much, and could only take one every second day, thinking I was smart, but got blocked up completely, and took two sachets of movical, and 2 senocots, all within a five minute window, and a few pints of light squash (mostly water, just a squirt of orange), and it still took a bit of time to even be able to go the loo, honest to God I thought the surgeon must have left something up there during my colonoscopy a few weeks ago, well as I said here on this site before I told my doctor the other day I couldn't take them (on my way out which he was trying to hasten), and he snapped at me that I had to take them, and that was that I just had to take them. I was going to ask about the injection you can get with iron in it, maybe I'll ask his secretary, my son who is a nurse suggested to me that I try and take a half a one a day, try anyway, but honest to God, I'm not going to until I see that my bowels are regular, I'm really not.

By the way the reason I 'have' to take the iron is because I have constant anemia and low iron since I first became ill last year.

Anyway let us know any other hints you have to use, I must buy that marmite, so I must, take care best wishes Claire xxx

Hi Claire, long story short, found tobe anaemic, had endoscopy doc suspected upper g I bleed, no, that was clear, going for colonoscopy tues, oh joy! Getting moviprep, even more joy! Very nervous, sailed thru endoscopy, no sedation, would do it again for a laugh! How is a colonoscopy? Sedation or not? Bloods are now normal. But oh my god, fibro kicked in big time, hurt all over, probably because I'm stressed! Hope there's nothing 'orrible lurking! Hugs! X

Hi.

You will need to make sure you drink plenty with fibrogel, they used to bind me even more. A great source of extra fiber though.

Best I found is Movicol powders. I have them prescribed and take 2 a day to combat the tablets. They are gentle on the stomach but effective without having to run like senna sometimes makes you :) . And if needed you can take quite a few at one time. Ask your Pharmacist about them. xx

A pint of Banks's Mild would do it for me .... there is a saying in the Black Country

When the bottom drops out of your world ....

Drink Banks's Mild

And watch the world drop out of your bottom.

Is that too much information?

What's banks mild Julie?, is it beer?, and I agree fiona you have to drink a lot of water too to move anything, do you think it's the tablets that bind people up more?, many thank's to all who helped me anyway, from Claire xxxxxxx
