Have you got the Benefits & Work guides on claiming DLA? They can be very helpful. If you haven't got them, email info@fibroaction.org and I'll do my best to email them out tonight.

Hi Ellie,

I had a DLA doctor (female), come out to me a few weeks ago, she was really nice, and I believe she saw I was ill, you know the way (or maybe not), you can go down town to their offices to see them and they are baskets, well I thought she was brilliant, and made me at ease very quickly, I got a letter since telling me they needed a little more time to decide or something so wish me luck, it's my second time to apply, and I am sicker now, best of luck to you too, and don't worry xxx Claire xxx

Very well said Taff461. Ellie think of it as your worst day ever, if you say to them `sometimes I can` then they look at it as you can all the time! Try not to worry and all the best for tomorrow. We will all be there in spirit with you! Do let us know how it goes? Ann x

Good luck we hope it goes in your favour - we are all thinking of you - it is horrible that you have to go through this but you know how you feel and the best thing to do is tell them how it is on your bad days not your good base every answer on those bad days. X

Hi Laurie Lee,

On my behalf let me say, I was nearly in tears, because she made me so weak and sore prodding me, then the things she made me do with my eyes, I can honestly say I nearly collapsed and could hardy see or open my eyes. And then she said "Ah, I suppose I'm making you tired!", was she joking or what, I told her I was in pain and where I was in pain, then, and that I had weak/bad eyes that were really very sensitive, and unable for all the 'testing'. I also told her before she did the 'testing' that I had 50% vision in my left eye according to an eye surgeon, two laser operations (told to be cosmetic, to remove broken blood vessels) and in later years (a few years ago) two cataract operations, and told her I was getting really painful eyes again and double vision without my glasses, (and that I had treble vision before my cataract operations), she still shone her light in my eyes for ages, esp my weak eye, and made me look left and right and shone her light into it again, obviously I could hardly open my eyes afterwards and she makes a joke that she must be making me tired, but apart from that I did think she was nice and I hope with all of my heart that I get something from dla, and not a refusal letter, though they say you should appeal anyway.

Anyway, gentle hugs and blessings to all of you xxxxx

Sorry fibrofog kicking in again, just saw your last message. Good Luck. We all deserve it. Coz no-one in their right mind would possibly want to have fibromyalgia or be sick. Sometimes I think if they could just experience it for just 1 week, then they just might understand.

Laurielee, you are so right, and it's not fair going through ropes just to get our just rights xxx

Hi Sanevan,

I'm so sorry to hear about your doctor that came out and that your did'nt get dla yet. They can be right lousers cant they? I hope myself and Ellemarian have better luck, but I'm sorry to say because they knocked me back in December, I don't really have much faith, I can only pray to God that it's sucessful.

Do appeal every time, as they say gentle hugs Claire xxxx

Dont give up, dont let the b******S get you down. I have been there and applied a few months later and got it although that was11 years ago. Absolutely dreading the new system PIP with ATOS doing the checks (sorry can think of the word) Why do I need a full time carer? I had someone with me the first time and was pullled an prodded all over the place and was in tears for ages afterwards. My friend was absolutey furious at the way I was treated. Whenever you get down, just remember that if you stop, they have won and we all have the right to be treated with dignity and respect and deserve the benefits coz no-one in there right mind would want this horrible syndrome. After all its not only pain and fatigue in the whole body but a whole heap of side effects that can affect the whole body. It not nicknamed the IRRITABLE CONDITION for nothing. Irritable Bowel Syndrome, Irritable Bowel, Irritable Eyes, to name just a few. hugs. x
