I used to get this and it was awful. Migraines are horrific and I've always found that although Imigran (sumatriptan) is incredible, that has it's own side effects!

I would ask if you have ever been assessed for myofascial trigger points? Or whether you think you might have this in your neck, shoulders and back - it can feel like tight or hard muscles or knots on your muscles. Myofascial Pain is a possible cause of chronic, recurring or intractable (doesn't respond well to meds) migraine. Getting this treated got rid of my recurring migraine and I now rarely get them.

Hi LindseyMid,

This is interesting. I can feel the trigger points in my neck and shoulders that cause my migraines. .I thought I just had to suffer. I would be over joyed to rid of this everlasting head and neck pain.

What do I have to do please? I am in the uk. Fibromite.

I have been plagued with migraines for more years than I care to remember. At one time reached an all time high of 27 in one month. Tried Beta Blockers and other preventatives but had bad side effects with all.

I have been taking Clonidine since 2002 which although prescribed for a different condition helped enormously as a migraine preventative, reducing the attacks to just 1 or 2 per week and then even less frequently, so I still take them.

The most effective thing has been going through the menopause, that made them worse at first, but since coming out the other side of it, I can now go weeks without a migraine.

Although I was one of the people who went through the trials before Sumatriptan was launched, I found repeated use of Sumatriptan too harsh, and the side effects were quite bad, so now take full strength Rizatriptan instead when necessary

If you have any light saving energy bulbs in your home dispose of them because they can make you have migraines as they contain mercury etc..
