Hello Carol, so sorry to hear that you are feeling dopey and your pain isn't being helped by your tablets. I would suggest that you either contact or see whoever treated you at Guy's Hospital to see if you could be prescribed another medication that would help you better and not make you feel so drowsy and would also help you manage your pain better. Explain how you feel to them so they are aware of any side effects you may be experiencing. Please whatever you do don't stop taking the tablets you've been given without advice from your Doctor or Consultant as this could make you feel worse. You may need to gradually reduce you dose instead of stopping them straight away before starting a new medication. I wish you the best of luck, I hope you feel better really soon! Take care.
Hi Carol, I've no medical knowledge whatsoever but Libby's advice is sound. Also ignore me if I have come in at the end of a long conversation but the drowsiness could be a side effect and most people become tolerant to side effects after some time - varies from drug to drug as to how long this takes. I've no idea how long you've been taking Duloxitine so as I said feel free to ignore me. My intentions are good.

I felt all spaced out on duloxetine too - and I was on it already when I developed fibro!
I gradually made the change from duloxetine to amitriptyline, which has worked better for me.
But we're all different and I also agree with Libby that this is something that you should discuss with your doc.
Best of luck
