I think you have to have the high rate DLA before you can have one.

Have a look at your local council, I'm having a look too, that's interesting...

Hope this works, I can hardly keep my eyes open, it's past my bedtime lol. Not being terribly helpful, sorry.

Hi! I just joined and saw your post. A year and half ago I filled a freedom pass application form for disabled people. I found this application form at the town hall of my Council. Hope that will help you, if you have any question feel free to send me a message.

Hi Berenice

Do you mind me asking how you got on with the council, freedom pass?

I do have a disabled blue badge, but no car right now and wondered if you got a free bus pass?

I am not receiving DLA.

Its tells you how to get the forms on there and directs you to your local councils site , which is where you can download the form.

I live in Norfolk, and here if you are eligible for a blue badge you automatically qualify for a free disabled bus pass. I downloaded the form from the council website. enclosed a photo and a photocopy of my blue badge and I am now waiting for it.The other bit of good news is that I have been told it will be valid when I visit my daughter in Colchester on her buses. I have a car and on a good day I can drive, but on a not so good day it means I can still do what i need to do safely.

Unable to use buses or trains - use mobility scooter. Predicament is that whenever I have to go to hospital or wherever- I have to get a taxi there and back. Therefore any offers of other treatments I am tending to back off because of the expense. I do get mobility allowance and on pension but over a period of a month depending on how many times I need the taxi service it becomes a worry - any ideas please.

Have you tried asking the hospital transport office to see if you can claim your fare back? Or is there a voluntary driver service in your area that you can access through your GP or a voluntary organisation that may be a cheaper alternative? Have you mentioned to the hospital Doctors that you are finding it difficult to access the treatment due to expense of transport. They may have some ideas,
