Hi guys my first post on here I love this page it really good to know you guys I'm just wondering if anybody has experienced dizziness when they are either sitting or standing first times it's happened n I've a fibro flare up I feel you guys take care everyone much love to you all xx

Yes Dolly. Though it could be BPPV and there's a specific test and ENT manoeuvre for it that works/helps 😀

Always get dizziness checked out, there's many causes. X

I would get it checked out with your GP, could be a number of reasons.

Hi Dolly, there are so many reasons for dizzness. Example it could be high BP. LowBP. Anemia, the list goes on.

Please make an appointment to see either your doctor or your surgery nurse and get it checked out xx

Hi Dolly,

Yes I get a lot of dizzy spells while standing up and walking, sometimes looks like I’m drunk, it’s a horrible feeling, also sometimes my head has a fuzzy feeling and everything goes black, my GP says it’s my blood pressure dropping, no blood tests show any reason for it, try to stand up very slowly and get your bearings before you walk, and get your GP to see you and have a few checks done, hope you get sorted x

Melissa thanks hun docs tomorrow I'm on gamapentine second lot of tablets so going see if its a side affect to that xx

Hi Dolly Depending on which medication you are on, dizziness can also be a side effect. I definitely had it with Pregabalin. x

Horrible feeling. I was told mine was inner ear balance, the room spins if I turn over in bed too fast, only stops if I lie on my right side. Anyway, look up the Cawthorne-Cooksey exercises, they might help.

As others have said lots of causes of dizziness…I have had vertigo for over 30 years initially, after much investigation, put down to ‘squeezed’ nerve/ blood vessels in neck, then over the years had subtly different falling over a cliff, to feeling like floor rocking like a boat…. These have been caused by change of drug ( BP Bendroflumethiazide) and now also have postural hypotension ( sudden very low BP) / PoTS as a Long Covid symptom…. If after your GP appointment you are sent away, even for further investigations, try writing a diary of how you feel, and when? Had you been doing something the day before or a minute earlier, been ill, or put on a new medication? NHS never managed to help with my chronic problem ( physiotherapy or acupuncture) but I found a gentle spinal manipulator trained as a McTimoney chiropractor helped keep the worst problems at bay with visits every 6-8 weeks . While I am now mid treatment following a tilt table test and wear compression socks, and adjusting BP drugs.

Your post is interesting to read Judith, my eldest son has really bad vertigo, he’s only in his 20’s and it stops him driving and living the active life he had, thankfully he can work from home, otherwise he would struggle if he didn’t. He saw a specialist who did the Epley Maneuver. Helped only initially, and he’s now waiting on a head scan.

Everything unfortunately is such a waiting game on the NHS now.

sorry for your son’s situation …mine was initially approached by Drs. ( after 3 seizures too) by ruling out things from brain tumour to epilepsy , and over following months ( and years) my recording what set it off, and not, or modifying, doing it …from simple things like chopping carrots standing up, or sawing/ garden work …it being the angle of my neck being crucial, plus inflammation of neck/ shoulder muscles. Hope your son soon finds out what is making him dizzy, and learning how to deal with it! X

You are right about ‘learning how to deal with it’, awfully debilitating when at its worst though isn’t it. Sounds like you have suffered quite a bit.

Yes, for me it's a mixture of fibromyalgia and hay fever .I use antihistamine and reset crystals in head really works .Google

Hi DollyYes I get dizziness and disorientation, am always bumping into things, tripping up. My GP gave me some tablets, they did nothing and said it was Fibro so I just put up with it now. I do everything and I mean everything very slowly now.

HiI get constant feelings of dizziness and feeling groggy and not quite with it. I have ongoing high blood pressure which they are trying to control but they say its a mixture of that plus my fibro and medications. I just try to slow down and rest when at its worst x

I don't have dizziness but do have issues with balance and my blood pressure dropping, I would go and see your GP or practice nurse. All have been helpful and I have had numerous tests and a brain scan. Fortunately nothing of any concern was found, yet the balance issues continue.

The balance issues are now becoming dangerous, so I went to see yet another GP about a fortnight ago she did various tests in the surgery to role out various conditions which could affect balance. In the end she asked me to give her time to think about what was causing this.

Well she called me back two days later and she is sending me for another brain scan, which has come through fast. It does take time to rule various causes out but you need to seek advice, also if your dizziness is causing you to possibly injure yourself remember to inform who ever you see, they have to take you seriously.
