Feeling down and belittled by GP

My GP rang me over an hour ago asking why I wanted to talk to her.I pointed out I was in chronic pain and fatigue and that the Gabapentin wasn't working.

I've to give it another month๐Ÿค”๐Ÿ™„

I've struggled walking freely for many years. 1999 was the worst. If been in a coma for 9weeks in icu at Manchester. I was seriously ill.

I had to learn a lot of things again Inc walking and eating.

I never fully recovered . Was then diagnosed with Sarcoidosis then fibromyalgia.

I struggle to walk to the loo. The Gp suggested I walk 50 metres every day๐Ÿ‘ฟ๐Ÿ˜ญ๐Ÿ˜ญ๐Ÿ˜ญ๐Ÿ˜ญWtf?

I can only think she doesn't believe the Fibromyalgia is a thing. I'm furious and tearful.

I feel let down by the system once again.

I'm sick of it.

But I have my Fibro warriors here to advise and provide love and hugs๐Ÿ™๐Ÿค—๐Ÿค—๐Ÿค—๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ˜

I'm going to a private physiotherapist who has access to my x rays etc. She's great๐Ÿค—๐Ÿ˜ฑ

Hugs and love to fellow Fibro warriors. And for putting up with my rant๐Ÿ˜‰๐Ÿค—๐Ÿค—๐Ÿค—๐Ÿค—๐Ÿค—๐Ÿค—

Hello, I am sending some huge hugs straight back too you, is there anyone else at the surgery you could see instead ?I am currently having higher pain throughout with my fibro, they are going too take blood tests tomorrow too see if any markers come up for any inflammation first before they move on changing or adding any other medication, (which I thought was sensible)also checking nothing else going on , They have upped my dose for Codiene for now ,but that is a med you cannot take constantly, (I have too say that is not touching my pain much) . You have been threw an awful lot and you are asking for help so another month ๐Ÿ™I think she could at least get you some blood tests done first and then look at another route for you, I bet you were cross and letting some tears out a way of letting off steam and feeling very disappointed for sure. I sometimes have too push the receptionist too get an appointment ๐Ÿ˜‰not always easy xx

Hi sweetie Yassytina๐Ÿค—๐Ÿค—๐Ÿค—,I'm sorry you're suffering ๐Ÿ˜ช๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿค—๐Ÿค—๐Ÿค—๐Ÿค—๐Ÿค—๐Ÿค—๐Ÿค—๐Ÿค—๐Ÿค—๐Ÿค—๐Ÿค—๐Ÿ˜Š.Hugs to you sweetie

I truly wish everyone here well.

Last night Jon had to partially carry me upstairs to my bed I was in so much pain .

Especially my legs knees hip and right arm. I felt a tad better this morning but not much.

They made me come off codeine tramadol and morphine. Still on a tiny amount of morphine but I'll get off.

You tho yes be careful with codeine. Don't become addicted.

Out of sheer curiosity what other meds are you on?

Don't reply if you aren't comfortable I'll understand sweetie.

It's virtually impossible to get a an appointment with any GP especially my Gp. She works morning's a week and She's seen as classed as the nicest Dr there. I've argued with 2 others lol. And to see a GP wow that's even harder.

It was a out of the blue phone call I got. Trixsy.

30 people were in front of me last week just to get through to reception !!!!๐Ÿ˜ฎ

Hugs to you sweetie. Poor Jon is still cleaning๐Ÿค—๐Ÿ˜‡๐Ÿค—๐Ÿค—๐Ÿค—๐Ÿค—๐Ÿค—๐Ÿค—๐Ÿค—๐Ÿค—๐Ÿค—bfn sweetie Dawn ๐Ÿค—

hi,

Please do ask your doctor to refer you to a pain management team at your local hospital- just tell your doctor you cannot manage your pain like this as it is having an bad effect on the quality of your life .

Explaining why and how tell them you are suffering to much pain and it is impacting on the quality of your life and now you wish for pain management to see if they can help you .

Pain management have no miracle cure but my team do help lower my pain trying to help me as best as they can to a level I get some quality of life and some pain relief , Lucky I know

Which is what I believe you are after no expectation of every bit of pain going away just some relief.

If your doctor as some problem giving you an appointment to see her this can be by letter politely just saying what your medical problems are and that you are suffering. You could also say you have written to them as you are struggling with pain to much at the moment and struggling to get out and a friend is posting it for you .

Obviously only do this if itโ€™s true - if your doctor still doesnโ€™t help as a pain management team will look at what medications have been used already and what it maybe best to try now - then the next move would obviously again be up to you , do you really want a doctor who doesnโ€™t believe in a illness you have been diagnosed with could you not change you doctor . Is it not time then to do so . This only you can decide hard I know I have done this myself but glad to say it worked out for me .

When we get so low and pain gets to us it can to us and drag us down Iโ€™m going through a very rough patch at the moment. I have other health issues along with fibromyalgia . I do understand how you feel honestly

so whatever you decide to do I wish you all the luck , send you a big soft hug .

Hope you feel better soon

Hi sweetie ๐Ÿ˜€๐Ÿค—I've been to the pain clinic a couple of months ago.

I've followed every bodies instructions I was doing the physio daily.

But when ur Dr says ur 56 surely you don't want to be like this. She threw me when she said that. I have fibromyalgia amongst other things ๐Ÿ™„. At the moment the Fibro is chronic. She seemed to be dismissing it. That really upset me and Jon my carer.

Thank you so much for your support and advice๐Ÿค—๐Ÿค—๐Ÿค—๐Ÿค—๐Ÿค—๐Ÿค—๐Ÿค—๐Ÿค—๐Ÿค—๐Ÿค—๐Ÿค—๐Ÿค—๐Ÿค—๐Ÿค—๐Ÿค—๐Ÿค—๐Ÿค—๐Ÿค—๐Ÿค—๐Ÿค—๐Ÿ˜ŠDawn

Sorry youโ€™re going through this. Iโ€™ve given up on the NHS for the time being at least. I donโ€™t feel strong enough to fight anymore. Hugs to you. I know how crap they can make you feel x

Hi Brigga๐Ÿ˜ŠI know what you mean. My carer said he'll take the load but having fallen out of the system before. Around 2004 until this Xmas. I behaved sort of lol, but suffered in mainly silence. I refuse to be silent anymore but when I see all the people on here suffering it's like some have no choice.

I've been in the system since birth. Wacky parents๐Ÿ™„.

How are you today sweetie?. I'm hoping ur ok ๐Ÿ‘Œ.

I'm feeling pretty useless. Jon is still cleaning and tidying and I'm lounging on my chair. I couldn't help if I wanted to as I'm in so much pain. Everywhere meh.

It's meant to be raining here. It's hot and sunny ๐ŸŒžlol

Hugs sweetie Dawn ๐Ÿค—๐Ÿค—๐Ÿค—๐Ÿ™ƒ

Thanks for your lovely reply. I was actually just thinking of posting on here because Iโ€™m having such a bad day. I was supposed to be starting a new evening class tonight that I was looking forward to but I hardly slept at all last night and my mental health is not good today, as well as my pain. Managed to get myself washed and dressed but I have zero energy and Iโ€™m feeling anxious and sorry for myself. I think Iโ€™m going to have to cancel tonight and hopefully go to the next one. I just feel sad about how my life is now. Sorry to put this all on here but Iโ€™m having a moment. My husband is working from home today and I canโ€™t cope with his noise and mess today so Iโ€™m sitting in bed. I hope your pain settles down a bit so you can enjoy your day. The weather is cold and grey here which doesnโ€™t help. It sucks to be us sometimes eh? Sorry Iโ€™m a Debbie downer haha.

Hugs to you from Jane x

The thing is when the brown sugar cubes collide all at once ur left feeling even more down so don't worry next class is waiting for you sweetie.

We sorta have reasons to sometimes feel overwhelmed and sorry for ourselves so don't be hard on yourself๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿค—๐Ÿค—๐Ÿค—๐Ÿค—๐Ÿค—๐Ÿค—๐Ÿค—๐Ÿค—๐Ÿค—๐Ÿค—

I hope you have a better evening and ๐ŸŒ™ night.

Yes being in so much pain is absolutely horrible. Luckily I have a GP who gives me painkillers and understands the pain of fibro. I am also suffering terribly at the moment and trying to work while in pain is horrid but I just have to get on with it. If I go off sick, they ask when I'm going to be cured. Pain management team are good if you get a consultant who understands the pain you have. Has your GP referred you to a fibromyalgia consultant? I was lucky as I worked in a hospital when I first got this and the rheumatologist realised I had fibromyalgia and so referred me to a specialist. He was great but that was many years ago. Hope you manage to find a GP more sympathetic towards you

Every time I hear about these๐Ÿ’ฉ GP's that don't believe in some illnesses because they can't be mivered to research, It's wrong and people are suffering more than we should be, Until a cure is found they should be trying to help and not just fobbing us off with more and more meds,

My Hubby was looked after in the i.c.u and then high dependency for 6 weeks he had an disected aurota ( sorry can't spell) they didn't operate so he is still under a watchful eye, only this time the Walton hosp, whiston and Broad green,

He keeps himself busy, by running after me, He says he wants too,๐Ÿ˜‡ He is a truly wonderful man

i hope you get sorted soon

Take care

Hi MightyMouse1963.๐Ÿค—๐Ÿ˜ƒI used to live in Flimby and I had teeth out at the Cumberland. I agree. Not so good.

I don't know where it is.

I live in Oxford but know very little of it.

Jon's just made me say goodbye to my last plant pot which is hoped to grow a tomato ๐Ÿ…plant in๐Ÿ˜ญ

Oh well . Gosh I'm v sore. Looking forward to tea tonight..

Jon said he'd surprise me so probably take away.

Not far away! Used to live on the Wirral Peninsula, dad was treated in Whiston, passed away late November 2023. Stressful events seem to trigger a flare with me. I was 30 years searching for a diagnosis. I'm under Rheumatology, waiting for Pain Management Clinic forever

What does it say on the NHS app? You can show it to whoever you see.

Is there another doctor at your surgery you could see? Your doc doesn't seem too sympathetic.

Smilesalot profile image
Smilesalot in reply to Midori

Hi sweetie ๐Ÿ™‚Dr Pierce is meant to be the most sympathetic so maybe I'm being unfair to her. I don't know. I'm so tired at the moment I just don't know๐Ÿ˜•.

Thank you for your reply ๐Ÿ˜Š.

I went to the private physiotherapist who also is very friendly and we came to the conclusion that I should go for a steroid injection in my hip.

My r hip really hurts. Osteoarthritis.

It won't help with my fibromyalgia but I've got to try anything.

I think I need to doze off for a bit

Thanks sweetie๐Ÿค—๐Ÿค—๐Ÿค—๐Ÿค—๐Ÿค—๐Ÿค—๐Ÿค—๐Ÿค—๐Ÿค—๐Ÿค—๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ˜Š
