I have fibromyalgia and ostroarthritis for more years than I can remember, I am 85 years old a full time carer for my 86 year old wife. I have four hours a week down time to which I have to pay for, not cheap if you need the right care.

Not at all easy always tired to which my wife dose not understand in her mind, she dose not understand in her world after a nights sleep ? why are you still tired you have had a nights sleep.

One gets loads of advice via phone or email, some turn up but none with a real sollution.

my heart goes out to you.I guess you cannot not get help from your family or else you would already be getting.If you had more paid care for your wife it would help you.Cannot social services help more by someone coming to be with your wife for a few hours so you could either sleep or do your own activities.Has day care been suggested.Your wife would then be at day care for a few hours freeing up your time

Hi Hermes. I feel for you. It is incredibly hard caring for someone who has dementia.Have you visited your GP to describe your situation ? GPs can organise help like respite care or put you in touch with charities who can help. You are doing your very best but it sounds as if you are not coping too well. Please don't be too proud to ask for help and to admit you are struggling. You are not alone.
