Hi its been a while since I've posted on here but I would appreciate some advise please. I got diagnosed 2020 with fibromyalgia. I have never really accepted the diagnosis as been well and put it down to post covid however this last 2 months I've been ill twice with what I thought was a virus so wiped out temperature just generally felt unwell. It's happened again this weekend. Started Friday and I've spent the weekend resting. Today I do feels less unwell. My question is is any of this like a flare up please? The bit I can't understand if it is the feeling of a temperature. I'd really appreciate your thoughts. Thank you. Heidi

I have actually often tried to describe a flare up to friends as like the flu but without any of the respiratory symptoms. I can either feel frozen or very hot, ache all over and have extreme fatigue. My flares used to often last 2 weeks but they seem to be more severe now but are shorter.x

I also describe my fibro like having the flu. I generally either feel too hot or too cold. Rarely just right but I reckon if I used a thermometer I wouldn't actually read spiking an actual temperature it's mad really. Everyone has such different symptoms, this condition is a right enigma! 🥴. All we can do is manage whatever symptoms are being thrown at us that day 😏. It's all rather tiresome. Best of luck x

Hi Mylo1974,

Yes I get this every time I have a flare. I noticed these flu like symptoms long before I got my fibro diagnosis, many times I was told it was a viral infection and once diagnosed with 'adult mumps'. I now recognise the flu like symptoms as part of my flare symptoms - I also get swollen glands under my ears along the jawline on both sides of my chin. Get the fluctuating temperature as Rosewine has described.

May well be a flare up. Fibromyalgia sufferers do have difficulty regulating body temperature, so that you may feel hot and sweaty, or cold. These very much resemble flu like symptoms. All the best!❤️😄

Glad you asked this question because I was just wondering the same thing. I have felt flu like symptoms a fair few times and have been feeling like it since last week. Aching/pains, heavy headache and fatigue also hot(I’m always hot but this is different from the usual. I felt like when I’ve had covid but am testing negative. I have to go back to work tomorrow and am dreading it as I still don’t feel well but don’t get paid 😞if I don’t

Hi Mylo, I just put it down to seasonal changes. The weather doesn't seem to know how to cope with the changes in temperature and neither do those with fibro with that particular sensitivity. I have discarded cardies and jumpers all around the house which I put on or discard when I want. - Flares just like to confuse us too. Hope you feel better soon.

Hi Mylo1974, it sounds like a fibro flare to me, according to a article I read somewhere? Fibromyalgia is now classed as a autoimmune and I can testify to that, my health has deteriorated rapidly but I've had FB around 16yrs but wasn't diagnosed until 2016, it took a long time back then, I get frequent chest infections, my glands get infected, mouth sores inside it, my temperature is up & down, burning up 1 minute then freezing cold the next, its the fibro flare, coughs & colds frequently, I get quite annoyed when peeps don't wash their hands after coughs or sneezing.....my winter's are spent mainly in bed..I hibernate bcos my body can't cope with cold weather it completely wipes me out, there are different stages with FB, some peeps may stay in a stage remission with certain pain levels but I have found that mine have been deteriorating over the last 4yrs, we are all different with FB and managing pain isn't as easy as they say....I wish you well & hope you get some pain management xx
