Talking to yourself

Do any of you talk to yourself. I do this all of the time. I find I'm talking as if there is someone else in the room, I talk to my hoover when I'm struggling to push it around, my shower asking it why it gets so dirty, when I'm cooking I'm constantly going through my step by step list so I don't forget. I talk to my fat on my belly and ask what is the purpose of it being there and how am I supposed to get rid of it when it hurts to exercise, Why am i hurting, where did this random bruise come from, why do women have hairs on there legs when I can't even shave them without struggling. Why is this top in the wash basket when he hasn't worn it. I just find myself talking out loud all the time and then I tell myself to shut up and stop talking to myself but it still continues, I feel I'm going mad I have finally lost the plot with no return.

I do it all the time - and have done way before fibro started (I'm sure I've done it since childhood)

I do it all the time, nobody else on the same intellectual level🤔, I live on my own, swear at the tv "Why am I watching this crap!", whilst emailing trying to get right word, have been doing it for decades, a nurse in local hospital "First sign of madness!", trying to get to sleep, talking to myself for hours![sorry neighbours🙄]

I oftten give myself a good talking to and mumble away when things are going wrong. We probably get more sense out of ourselves.x

Always cause at least I know I'll get the answer I want lol. Glad you posted this, so nice to wake up to something lighthearted and gave me the giggles. So if you are going mad we're all with you xx

You are brilliant!!! I am sure this fairly common human behaviour keeps our brains working and helps ward off dementia. Verbalising random thoughts into a coherent conversation is most important and it is actually a creative and healthy way to deal with loneliness as well. You are also relating to our/your condition in a very healthy way because you are talking yourself through the relentlessness of housework despite the pain and discomfort. Tops marks! Keep it up! - I entertain myself no end with this. Have fun. x 😅

Glad i am not the only one, i have even told the weeds in the garden that this is war and to get themselves ready. mind you i also go out to get the shopping and hope that when i get back the cat will have done the washing up, never does!! and when i ask him why he has taken his food out of his dish and put it on the floor to eat it, he looks at me and pretends that he doesnt understand what i am saying.

i have also asked my sewing machine why it is playing up

the time to worry is, if any of these things actually answer you back!!!!

Yes I do all the time!

All the time, and I'm glad I'm not alone in this :-) I've gotta say the one thing I like about mask wearing, was that I could talk to myself in the store and no one knew LOL

I like talking to myself. No-one else to listen except my cat and he talks back sometimes! I talk to myself when I'm doing the shopping. Funnily enough, no-one bothers. I think they must think they can't look at me in case I'm mad and that I'll start talking to them 🤪😂😂

if know doing it, your not suffering something worse,

am always thinking what need to do, then forget.

I never talk to self out loud, as it may upset if folks knew what thought of fibro.

I do say when things really really hurt, as fibros invisible how they supposed to know, however mostly suffer in silence, keep to self.

I do detest the phrase 'oh your looking so well', when really want to scream with it all, of course I just smile and think if only you knew, should try living in my shoes.

Hi CM.

If we didn't talk to the other parts of us how will we know how things are ? That chat is very important & good practice for when ur fight begins & it's a slow laborious battle & all that practice kicks in .

That's when it turns into encouragement & the drive to keep learning & changing ur own life & surroundings to suit U & ur needs & the rest can adapt for a change .

I talk to myself every day & lockdown I found amazing as I enjoy my own company more than being in a group , a group setting I am open to & learning to be part of that too as well as just Me , Myself & I , when ever it is just me I do find that I'm understood 1st without having to explain & that's true in groups to an extent , in that we all suffer from that gargoyle called "Fibromyalgia" but we are all slightly different in its exact nuances that is each of us .

Had to laugh yes I do all the time. The first sign of madness is talking to yourself, the second is answering yourself! I think it's living alone my dogs give me strange looks! So seems you're definately not alone with this x

Yes! I talk to myself all the time. I read somewhere that it’s a very good thing to do for our emotional health, and I’m not making that up. Self talk enables us to process our thoughts and helps us to make decisions or work out issues we are dealing with. I find it’s a good way to let out frustrations and let off some steam if I’m upset about something! So, keep on talking and don’t worry about it 😉
