Can anyone recommend anything for my legs? I have been told it’s RLS and have been given medication for it but it doesn’t seem to be working 🥺 not only is it in my legs but it travels up my body, last night it was just in my stomach.
Could this be due to my fibro?
Any advice would be great 😊
Thanks

Restless legs can be painful but the main criteria for this is the INABILITY TO KEEP YOUR LEGS STILL especially at night. If your legs don’t want to move around then you don’t have restless legs. Please sign up to the restless legs forum on Health unlocked and you will find tons of good advice from very knowledgeable people who know far more than doctors who are not trained in restless legs at med school. Also what medication did the doctor give you. You could be on the road to much worse restless legs if you really do have them as many doctors give out medication that is no longer recommended and actually worsens it.
That’s probably because you are suffering from augmentation as a result of taking pramipexole. As I said before doctors are not up-to-date with current medication‘s. Do not stop taking the pramipexole. You may suffer from withdrawal effects if you have been on it a while and your symptoms will go worse. The first thing your doctor should have done is check your iron levels. Your ferritin should be over 75. Do not accept normal as being OK. If you have restless legs you need higher iron levels. Also there are many things in the diet that commit restless legs worse for example sugar, alcohol and sweeteners. Please go on the restless legs forum and advise them of all the medications you are taking as many medications cause restless legs examples are antihistamines heart medication PPIs, amitriptyline, melatonin and many others. Also what dosage of Pramipexole you are on, how long you have been taking it and wheat time of day you take it. There are some very knowledgeable people on the website who know far more than the doctors and have seen some of the most knowledgeable doctors in the world on restless legs of whom there are very few.
Hi, I found having more magnesium helped my rls in my legs at night... used to have a banana going to bed. Now I've got fibro, I take extra magnesium daily.. I use malate as it doesn't have such a laxative effect on me. Don't know if it will help you, but worth a try.
I’m in the U.S., and I have found a commonly available answer to calm my own restless legs. It is pickle (gherkin) juice! I can drink a small amount (just a very few swallows) and most times, it calms my legs in maybe 15 to 30 minutes. Such a simple answer … and here, it is packaged in small bottles and sold in the grocery stores and online separately from full jars of pickles! I am NOT medically trained in any way … and this would probably be called an “old wives’ tale” here in the States! … but for me, the juice (not sweet gherkins) works! It is such a simple thing to try. I don’t know if it’s the vinegar, salt, or some mystery ingredient, but I don’t question “why” at this point! I even take it along on any short trips we make, because my RLS can occur frequently.
My wife was referred to the sleep clinic. Where they noted her low ferritin levels. After a course of medication her RLS did improve. Not perfect but it did help with symptoms.
