varies depending on whether i'm in the house all day (can be about 500); at work or out and about (2000 - 2500 average)

I try to do over 7000 a day. It has taken me 6 years to build up to this from 1000 x

I aim to do 5000-6000 a day but do have days of 3000 or even just 400 or so...It must depend on age and illness too...

What is your average?

I am building back up slowly after illness but my step count varies day to day.7000- 10000 is my aim but on a bad day I can be 360 steps. It has helped to accept this.

I have found fatigue better since I was funded by work (works charity) to use the Sleepstation app to improve sleep.

So have been able to improve steps a little.

Some days 1000 or less when I am bad but if I go for a walk 8000 to 10000. I am trying to go walking every day. I feel better even if it’s only round the block

When I'm working it's usually 10,000+ but it's considerably less on my days off, you?

I usually go out for an 10 mi Ute walk twice a day with big rest in between. I've only got a studio flat, so can't be very high. P.s the 10,000 step thing was from an advertising campaign! You just do what to can do.

Thankyou for all replies I am averaging 1000/2000 on a semi good day on my bad days I’m at 100/200 steps

but I have recently gone back to college on a Thursday I’m doing 11000/12000 steps and the aftermath is me being bed ridden crippled up in pain but after 4 years being house bounded I’m determined to get back out try enjoy life again

Awaiting docs appointment to try get new medication or even just some advice to improve my leg and knee pain

For leg and knee pain I use short gentle stretches, exercises & acupressure points (all youtube if you haven't got good gentle physios to help), massage 'gun', put my legs up before, during and after going for walks. Maybe that can help?

For your college Thursdays

first question is if it is an overall Ache and fatigue or local pains in legs,

2nd if it's really mainly the steps or maybe also stress / strain

3rd what you can do to reduce both, such as:

more breaks,

doing relaxation or stretching exercises whenever you're waiting for something,

keeping the moving around and movement in check more,

praps by using appliances such as a scooter or bike or something weird and wonderful,

asking people for help and suggestions....?

I normally walk abt 1-2000 steps a day when indoors on those quiet days but I do make myself walk up and down stairs to increase the amount. I really do get a kick out of beating my pedometer predictions! However I rarely get out of the house because of all the energy to get clean+ready for a walk! Dashing to the shops for an emergency food item is always after 5.00pm as it's taken me all that long to to find the energy...I really do find getting dressed a nightmare!

Recently been away on holiday with no errands to do at all-no shopping or laundry or housework or cooking so all my energy went into walking and viewing so my totals went upto 8-12000 steps but with numerous stops to rest with tea breaks, bus rides throughout the day. I was totally amazed and delighted...

I slept better but didn't start too early but you obviously have a College schedule to keep to...

I hope you can increase the rests during yr Thursdays, wear a rucksack for yr books/equipment etc to prevent lop-sided weight distribution, eat well and keep yr week beforehand resting and walking so that exercise isn't such a trauma on yr College day and plan rest&recovery for Friday+the weekends with some treats too?!!?

I hope you can balance yr week better so that yr Thursdays are not too energetic in comparison??? Two shorter sessions would suit you better; is there anyone at College you can talk to to help lessen the distance you walk?

This condition is not easy to manage at all is it? Such a wipe-out after a College day is a high price to pay but after being bed-ridden for so long I hope you're enjoying many different aspects of yr studying.

Good luck to you for a better solution to yr week...

This is one of those questions I find difficult to answer as how you reply can be interpreted in different ways, especially on forms where you are asked if you can walk which are then used to inform access to treatment and benefits. I can shuffle very short distances (<10metres) when aided, but are they steps? Am I still walking?

OMG, I am lucky if I walk 300 steps a day.😱I have a watch that tracks my walking, sleep and eating. I sleep on average 3-4 hours a night, walking between 300-450 steps a day.
