I have been on it 5 days .. feeling so weird and spaced out.. how long will that last ?

Also terrified of weight gain .. how common is that ? Don’t want to buy new wardrobe of clothes !!!!

Don't take dam things i did made me very ill. They use them too make you spaced out belive me too cover up pain horrid tablets go back too docs and tell them you prefer another med

It’s not Gabapetin but when I was on high dose steroids for months, which is the weight gain and appetite triggering king of medications, I ate a very low carb diet with good amounts of protein and especially vegetable oils. Counting calories didn’t work for me but avoiding potato, pasta, bread, rice, maize etc kept my blood sugars normal and my weight even. I ate tonnes but as long as it was veg or protein. Now I’m off steroids it’s habit not to have these things but I do have a little because I need a bit.

I never got on with these meds and swapped to sister meds Pregablin where i found the side effects much more manageable. Weight gain don't go there. One up hill battle is it the meds,comfort eating or just simply i don't do enough anymore as i was active b4 all this.

Thanks for your thoughts.. I will try two weeks.. if I still feel this way I’m quitting… even my eyes are twitching..I’m just yerk

Pregablin was worse for me than Gabapentin I had weight gain with both but much more severe on Pregablin. Dopeyness wore off in two weeks and other than weight gain I had no other sideffects , not sure how much difference any of them made to my pain but i think they got me through a bad patch when i was first diagnosed.

Unfortunately I have gained over a stone in 6months and was told by the consultant and gp that it’s the most common side effect 🙈I actually tried to stop taking them and then couldn’t walk so it’s between a rock and a hard place for me anyway

HiI was on Gabapentin for three months but had to come off them as they were doing nothing to ease the headaches I have everyday and I had a rash on both legs which my GP put down to the Gabapentin. I also put a stone on in Weight. I am now having a few weeks without any other medication to get it out of my system. The GP will then look at other alternatives such as Duloxatine I just can't get much respite from the headaches just now. Gabapentin may work for some but it wasn't for me.

Hi I have taken gabapentin for many years and because it’s no longer working I’m just about to change to pregabalin to see if it helps. For me getting used to the side effects was worth getting used to to help with pain management as I’m already taken OxyContin and matrifen patches. But if it doesn’t work for go back and ask for a change there are lots to try. Good luck.
