My employer won’t allow me to go back to work until I have spoken with OH ! What are they likely to ask me ? As I’m recently diagnosed how will I know what will effect me once I return ? Anyone ?

Hi CookieMeeting with occupational therapy is just a requirement to ensure you are supported to do your job . You will be asked what could be done to make sure your return goes well, to establish if you would like to return to your role on full time basis or have a reduced work load which might mean you finish earlier for a few days or if you require any reasonable adjustments. Good luck.

hi please don't worry. I have spoken with an occupational health person and they are very helpful and friendly. The questions are simple and about your condition and how it affects you in your life and doing tasks etc. I hope this is helpful. 😊

Really depends on what sort of employment you have and what your role entails. I have had fibro since 1987 and still work, with reasonable adjustments put in place by occupational health. They walked me through my role and asked me to identify problem areas and what I thought may help to improve things for me. Then a report was written with suggestions. You can ask to see the report 10 days before it is sent to your employers and you may request alterations on facts within the report. Your employer does not have to instigate any or all of the "reasonable adjustments" if it is deemed inpractical or detrimental to the business, although should legal action be taken then the powers that be that a very dim view of any employer failing to act within the legislation of Equality Act 2010.

Fibro is different for all of us and really I don't know that anyone could say how it is going to go for you, afraid it's very much a trial and error situation.
