Burning neck pain : Hi guys im... - Fibromyalgia Acti...
Burning neck pain
Hi. Yes i do get the same but all over my body. Its symptoms of ME & Fibro unfortunately. That specific area i have been diagnosed with Cervical Spondylosis, long name like lots of medical problems 😊😊 I have had lots of physio at pain clinic for pretty much all of my body over the years.
I have a Tens machine that helps.
Maybe speak to your GP if it becomes unbearable.
Stay as well as you can 😊😊
OMG yes! It's horrendous - mouth, jaw, neck (especially the bone at the top of my spine - it feels enlarged and inflamed), both arms and throughout my ribcage. It's particularly bad at the moment because I also suffer from chronic constipation dominant IBS and I've just been to the loo for a bowel movement after not going for almost 2 weeks and the pain has ramped up again. I hate it because it makes my constipation worse, but I think I'm going to have to resort to oramorph tonight. I'm waiting for the results of some blood tests, one of which is to check my inflammatory markers, but fully expect them all to be normal, If so, I'm going to ask my GP for a referral to Neurology and/or an MRI. Prepared to go private if I have to.
Hey Wonderwall3You have just written here about the same thing I've just asked Hardy99, the pain and swelling and feels enlarged. You are the first person to mention about the top of your spine (don't know the technical term) and oh my god maybe that's Fibro too as again I was putting it down to Sciatica. I'm soooo glad someone has mentioned the same place which I suffer from daily but didn't know what to put it down too. So thank you uuuuu I now know its nit only me who knows what I mean.....😊
I asked my doctor yesterday whether they could refer me for an MRI but he said that I nwoukd need to be under a specialist team as they would then consider if an MRI would be warranted so I'm going to self refer to the Musculoskeletal team, although I am anticipating that the waiting list will be huge. I told him that I would be prepared to go private if necessary. I'm also waiting for a follow up appointment with Gastroenterology as the pain from the bone I maintain is inflamed radiates through to my throat and appears to be related to after I have eaten. I also suffer from chronic constipation dominant IBS but no treatment has as yet worked for me so I'm wondering if there is a connection with this pain and the pain throughout my digestive tract. Once I speak to Gastroenterology I'm going to ask for an abdominal MRI too as I still maintain there is something wrong, even though all blood tests have been normal. Whether they agree is another thing but if I don't ask, I don't get. I hope you get to the bottom of your pain and find something to help. Keep us posted.
I suffer from chronic pain and a burning sensation in my neck, and was diagnosed with cervical Spondylitis and cervical myelopathy.
Four year ago I had ACDF (anterior cervical discectomy & fusion) surgery on C5/6/7 they said the surgery was a success
I never noticed any difference after surgery they but they said I would take year for the nerves to recover
Now I’ve been told that the nerve damage in my spine was extremely severe so may never completely recover
I still suffer with constant pins and needles in both my hands and get a numbness in the little to middle fingers, worse on my right, thankfully I’m left handed but there’s no strength in them. If anything it feels like I’m deteriorating.. if that make sense
Im now getting the constant pins and needles in my toes and sharp stabbing pains where my toes meet my feet and they feel really cold.
Also I’m getting the sharp make your eyes water in my left side lower back when trying to move and when I sit down I get pins and needles and numbness in my bum and legs so have trouble standing up.
I did the chronic pain clinic, the mindfulness thing and physio but found all it extremely hard as it’s all repetitive and needs to be constant but I forget!
I know that sounds lazy, but I just don’t remember, my concentration is shot, I get brain fog, I get days where I just loose hours.
I don’t know if it’s from the side effects from the different meds I take or what.
So I was wondering about spinal cord stimulation, has anyone had it done
Does it really get rid of the constant pain in your body?
Can it give you your life back
I feel like my head is too heavy for body so it pushes down on all my bones but the pain medication gives me a headache
Is Spinal cord stimulation the miracle cure I’ve been told or is it another fob off
“we don’t know maybe give this a try and hope it helps”
Sadly yes, not only my head, neck and shoulders but my entire body flares up with pain at times
Yes, I do gentle movements of my head side to side lying down. I also have a curved neck/shoulder hot water bottle and shiatsu massager. All help a bit
Hi Sorry to hear you are suffering so much. I’m afraid I do too. I try and prevent flair ups by not carrying handbags etc but often can’t avoid it. Warm showers and heated wheat bags can help the muscle spasms. A physiotherapist showed my husband how to gently press on the muscles that were in spasm until they stopped and that eases it too. So maybe worth asking for a referral to physio although I know the health system is stretched at the moment. My sister uses diclofenic gel for hers. Hope you find some relief. Take care.
Thanks for highlighting this as a fellow sufferer I have found the replies both interesting and helpful 😊
I get a hollow head 😂 oh in writing it sounds funny maybe then it me being a numpty 🤣 it’s like if you tap the head it got a hollow sound like when you put your finger in your ears nothing wrong with my ear just happens. Now I have written this it sounds like I have no brains 😂 I get neck pain and shoulder but I think I have worked out what started it vibration for things like Hoover or diy tools I can’t even look at a sander with out trepidation 🤣 don’t think I could use and electric toothbrush it would send me crazy. My next door neighbour tumble dryer has a low tone murmur I hear it all over my home sends me crazy and I tell my husband I can feel a low vibration he can’t but it’s like standing next to the djs booth and you feel that vibration will the music but without out good music 🕺🤣 so have a think it could all start from vibration even the low end. X
Yes I get it in neck and right side of head it burns prickles and stabs I think it’s inflamed nerves that cause the pain I was given very strong pain killers by the doctor but they did not work just made me dizzy and drowsy though the pain never stopped. I have it now can’t touch my head and brushing my hair is mega painful.
Hey Hardy99 Yeah I get the burning sensation in my neck and shoulders and my neck tightens and gets stiff and can't move it. Also, and I wonder if you get this , is the middle of the neck there is a bone, I guess which is like a lump (don't know what it's called) but when I stand still and do something for a short amount of time for example wash up the pain is excruciating and I have to massage the left of this lump and it absolutely kills me to touch and burns like hell and my hubby does it for me and I scream with the pain. It feels ike someone is stabbing me and the lump swells aswell. It's just I've never heard anyone mention this before so I was just wondering if you have seeing as you get the same pain as I do in the neck/shoulders ???
Yes that what I've got now and stiffness
