Hey all. So, recently I have been really struggling to manage my pain, get out of that depressive mood, tiredness and the inability to sleep. I know they say that fibro can be linked to trauma, regardless of physical or emotional. In the last two months we have lost 2 family members to suicide. As you can imagine this has been such a hard time. I am currently taking amitriptyline and co-codamol. They are just not cutting it anymore. Does anyone have any advice? Anything I should ask the dr for? Any sort of therapies? Any sort of exercise classes? Thanks

Sorry to read of your family members, very sad news, I would differently see your doctor as soon as you can. I think also upset like this does make us feel worse in ourselves and hopefully the doc can tweak your medications as you say they don’t seem to be working much. I think if our pain is managed better we seem to want to excercise alittle more, for me it is walks , not miles but getting out there and even seeing a change of scenery helps me. Just getting in the car for a few minutes and walking along the river makes me switch off. Looking at the boats ,having a coffee and just switching off to everything, I hope you see your doc very soon and take care xx
Hi I suffer also from fibro myself and am taking amitriptaline and cocodomol. Fibro has also a link to emotional trauma and there fore it should be treated incorrer to eliminate the flare ups. We must be aware that once you have fibro you will be living with it for the rest of your life most likely. But the flare ups can be reduced. I had numerous flare ups last year and started to take anti depressant. This has helped me to reduce my flare up dramatically.
A stress free life is the key for fibro patients.
I am so sorry for your loss, it would be a normal to feel how you do, with such tragedies.
It will take time to come to terms with but I would say if possible exercising and relaxing can help and do things that can distract you (even for a short time) - like doing your favourite hobbies, going to your favourite place, watching your favourite show and maybe treat yourself to a relaxing massage and if stress is really bad then I would say maybe have some buffered vitamin C to help support your adrenal glands and check your Vitamin B levels as that can suffer in times of stress.
Best wishes
Debbie
