just to add the missus said why dont you have a hot bath because i was realy suffering yesterday. so i thought ok bearing in mind i have,nt had a bath for years no i know what your thinking god he must be smelly. but i shower because its easyer with all the grab rails fitted. anyway i was trying to relax but i started to feel un well short breaths and gidieness so i pulled the plug out and got out quick incase i passed out. so i got into the bedroom sat on the bed trying to catch my breath. it was about twenty mins befor i can try and get my cloths on then i manage to get down staires to tell my wife she had a go at me because i should have banged on the floor when i am in trouble.the bath didnt help with the pain. i didnt think it would as during treatments at the therepies for pain i had heat treatment in a pool.so i would just like to say dont try having a hot bath because its dangerouse and if you do make sure someone is about incase you feel unwell.

many thanks

hot baths and lavendar and/or epsom slats are often used by people with fibro, Wondering if you have other conditions or meds in play. Hypertension perhaps?

Hypertension and saunas or hot baths can be an issue. So would be inclined to our your incident down to that rather than fibro

A hot bath helps my muscles but on odd occasions when I have it really hot I go all hot and sweaty. When I get out I go dizzy and I have to sit down and get some fresh air. The doctor says it could be my blood pressure dropping too low as hot baths make this happen. I can’t shower as after a shower the change in air temperature when getting out makes my body itch. Hope this helps.

boxers will often take an extra hot shower after a fight to ease the pain from the battering they just took. i can sometimes get relief for a hour or so using this trick. i have to agree bath's are quite a treacherous endeavour.

I often react badly to too much or too long heat - or cold. In the rheum./fibro clinic I was in, they gave us hot and cold canola seed hand baths to try. The 15' they recommended were far too long for me, I had severe circulation and breath problems. I tried again shorter and found out the limit was about 5'. I prefer using cold - whole body cryotherapy for 3' or cold showers several times a day for 1'. If I do sauna then 8'.Despite a severe long-term full flare I have quite a lot of energy and am fit and have no other conditions that would explain this - unless Raynaud were a reason. I am just sensitive to heat and cold, like I think many. Maybe "very" hot is also a clue - maybe it was too hot and warm would be better.
